The ultrasound showed that the echo of my prostate was uneven, which indicated that I may have prostatitis (but I have been very normal in recent years,  I had groin pain sometimes five or six years ago), but the hospital in my area was not good enough to check my prostate fluid for further treatment. I do not know, the analysis said there are 20 - 30 WBCs/HP. And I do not think the test of IL-8 is meaningful, the high level of WBC is enough to prescribe clarithromycin

Please be aware of the fact that more than one kind of estrogen can be found in the body and they have somewhat differing activities. When scientists speak about estrogen they usually mean estradiol which mainly activates estrogen receptor alpha (ERalpha). It is also believed that pathogenic estrogen activity plays a role in the development of prostatitis partly by altering the testosterone/estrogen ratio. Interestingly another kind of estrogen receptor, known as estrogen receptor beta (ERbeta), often tends to oppose the actions of ERalpha. ERbeta is quite abundant in the prostate and supposedly play a role in its protection as it was said before. The hormone known as 3Beta-Adiol is said to be the main preferential activator of ERbeta. 3beta-Adiol is actually more abundant in men than in women, which makes it kind of like a male estrogen. Testosterone and 3alpha-Adiol also preferentially activates ERbeta, although to a lesser extent. Even so the lack of any of these hormones would lead to a more prominent ERalpha activity which predisposes the prostate to the development of inflammation and prostatitis.
Besides hormonal disbalance there may be several other reasons why ERbeta activity could be beneficial. For one ERbeta activation opposes AP-1 activity which makes it somewhat immune-suppressive, thus decreasing excessive pro-inflammatory cytokines. In this respect methylprednisolone appears similar as it also inhibits AP-1. Another reason could be the induction of apoptosis which doesn’t sound too good, but in case of ill cells (e.g. senescence) it may help clearance, although this isn’t likely to be responsible for short-term effects. ERbeta activation is also known to be an inducer of autophagy, which was shown to play a role in other neurodegenerative diseases and increased clearance may help recovery.
