Nimodipine is a major breakthrough. Why isn't anyone interested in it and replying to me?
Hi Lihua,
Many things to consider, so that you will gain some more perspective about Nimodipine:
- Nimodipine is new in the POIS discussion and is even new for you. Usually, a new treatment attracts more interest when it has been effective for a member for over 3 months so that we are well over the placebo period, and also, over the period where a method is initially a success but rapidly stops to be effective, for whatever reason. If nimodipine is still effective for you in 3 months, send me a message so that I can add it as a proven method in my POIS Types Chart and their possible relief.
- information spreads slowly on this forum. Many members come once a month or once in a while. For example, when I first shared my own method, which had been effective for over 3 months at that time in 2015, and was blocking my symptoms at 80% to 100%, it took 2 months and a half to have the first reply in my thread ( look at the dates, at
https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2090.msg16604#msg16604). So, be patient.
- Keep in mind that, even if you are very enthusiastic with the results you had with nimodipine, it will not be the solution for every POIS sufferer. As my POIS Types Chart clearly shows, there is more than one type of POIS, and what helps one can worsen another. In the case of nimodipine, it is a calcium channel blocker, so it lowers blood pressure. I, for one, have low blood pressure when in POIS, so if I would take nimodipine, I would feel worse, because my blood pressure is already too low and I feel weak and have no energy, in part because of this hypotension. Some POIS sufferers may also benefit from nimodipine, but not all. Among those who may try it, only a part of them will find it to be of help for their POIS.
I have created my POIS Types Chart with that in mind: for any POIS sufferer to try and find what relief method seems like the most adapted to his type of POIS. I doubt there will ever be one solution that would fit all POIS sufferers.
