The One: My Story To Finding The Cure
« on: April 14, 2021, 12:21:58 PM »
UPDATED 2024

Hey everyone,

I've nearly given up on trying to treat my POIS. I've tried almost every treatment on this forum with no success.

Here's what I've tried so far:
    2021-2022
    2023-2024
    • Healthiest Lifestyle (daily gym, clean eating, 8+ hrs sleep, meditation, low stress)
    • Intensive Therapy (3+ months CBT, Exposure)
    • Nanna1's Immune Stack (in comments)
    • 100% Lion's Diet (30 days)
    • Increase Testosterone (lifestyle, supplements)
I've given most of these trials at least a month. But none of them treated my symptoms which are:

    -Social anxiety
    -Low motivation
    -Poor focus (ADHD)
    -Low mood
    -Sweaty hands

My symptoms show up within 30 minutes and last between 1-7 days. It seems the only thing that's worked reliably is no fap.

    My current POIS theory

There are 4 main theories of what causes POIS:

    (1) Histamine
    (2) Semen allergy
    (3) Hormonal imbalance (low T)
    (4) Porn withdrawals

I've tried countless experiments for the top 3. But not the porn withdrawals.

Throughout this journey, I kept using porn (1-2X/week). It's the only variable that didn't change.

I personally feel my best when I'm on a no fap streak. Porn has been proven to cause dopamine desensitization.

All my symptoms are linked to low dopamine (social anxiety, depression, irritability).

So my plan moving forward is:
    • Quit Porn. I'll be using the easy peasy method and a no fap coach.
    • Improve Gut Health. I'll be taking specific strains & vegetables that improve gut health and dopamine.
    • Keep Living Healthy. Train, eat, sleep, sun, meditate and socialize.

I will update this after I finish my day 90 streak.

    Thanks,
    The One

PS - I used to recommend Nanna1's stack. Now I don't. It doesn't lead to lasting relief. [/list]

Pretty much the same as your case except I only have psychological symptoms. I've tried everything and nothing works.
I am still looking to try other things. For example I want to try Bupropion, someone recently said that it helped and he connected his POIS to potential norepinephrine deficiency.
I also want to take a DNA test to see what mutations I have that could have some connections to POIS.
We are still in a desperate situation but the hunt is not over.

Welcome to the real world, Neo.

My reply to a similar post:

Have you ever visited a doctor? :) Just for a general checkup, without mentioning POIS and NOT to get antidepressants.

Yes, stress is a killer for me too.

    Other questions:
    1) How is your sleep?
    2) What is your diet exactly? What do you eat? Are you vegan/vegetarian or anything else that could lead to deficiences?
2b) Do you take in enough salt?
3b) Do you drink enough? I can recommend alcohol free wheat beer with lemonade.. if you're without access to that, you might want to try something like Gatorade..
    3) Do you have dental problems?
    4) Have you tried breathing exercises?
    5) Have you tried taking walks in nature? (I feel bad if I don't take a walk daily..)
    6) Have you looked into taking a multivtamin? You can do this ASAP. For physical weakness, additionally I have good experience with ALCAR and Q10.
    8) 3 days before re-starting work is a bit little, but if I was you I'd try Ashwagandha Extract and Rosea Rhodiola. Both can help to stabilize mood, anxiety, testosterone, stress resisence, ...

PS: I cannot abstain, if I abstain for too many days (like a week) my brain and mind

In addition, I have very good experience with a kind of licorice candy and this supplement with saffron, fenugreek and other good stuff.
    https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=3011.msg37974#msg37974 <- Licorice candy
    https://www.amazon.de/NATURTREU%C2%AE-Maca-Kapseln-hochdosiert-3000/dp/B07L6NTFJK <- the supplement

    Do you consume coffee?
Black strong coffee is really help so so much on the day after for part of the symptoms I have.

If I were you, I would try to do as many blood tests as possible. It is perfectly possible that POIS arises from different conditions specific to each of us, so trying to find out which health parameters are abnormal in your own case may be a good beginning. Also, try to examine what has happened in your life so far (illnesses, drugs taken, potential traumatic events) and what characterizes you (psychological tendencies, physical specificities, allergies, health problems in your family, etc.). It might give you or your doctor a clue about where to search.

I’m just one guy, but I had adverse results. Lexapro has been working for me for many years. Just an FYI.
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

Here's what I've tried so far:

Another thing I've noticed in the forum is that people might be looking for single causes or single cures (supplement or lifestyle or medication).

But often what is needed might be a combination of chronic things and acute things.
An example: demografx is taking TRT and an antidepressant (Lexapro) in combination and then a specific antihistamine to manage (not cure) his symptoms.

Thanks for differentiating that for me.

I figured I might need a 'stack' to get this to work. The problem is the individual components haven't really worked.

What do you guys think of Nanna1's immune incompetence stack? Or is this entire POIS thing psychosomatic?

Thanks Gino for the recommendation! I'm giving it a try.

Here's what I'm going to take:
    -500 mg Niacin (2-6 hrs before O): https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Niacin-500-100-Capsules/dp/B004LVW8TU
-Matcha Tea (Immediately to 30 mins before O): https://www.amazon.com/Ch%C3%A9rie-Sweet-Heart-Matcha-Powder/dp/B07P6454Z1/
    -Vitamin C + Echinacea: https://www.amazon.com/Solaray-Echinacea-Vitamin-Capsules-Count/dp/B000I4DIU2/

Do these check out? Also, do you have a better Matcha recommendation? I'm having a hard time finding yours.

    Thanks for stopping by :)

Just in case you didn't see my reply in my thread.

I'm planning on replicating your stack.

Here's what I'm thinking of taking:
    -500 mg Niacin (2-6 hrs before O): https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Niacin-500-100-Capsules/dp/B004LVW8TU
-Matcha Tea (Immediately to 30 mins before O): https://www.amazon.com/Ch%C3%A9rie-Sweet-Heart-Matcha-Powder/dp/B07P6454Z1/
    -Vitamin C + Echinacea (Daily): https://www.amazon.com/Solaray-Echinacea-Vitamin-Capsules-Count/dp/B000I4DIU2/

Do these check out? Also, do you have a better Matcha recommendation? I'm having a hard time finding yours.

    Hi The One.

Overall it looks like the products you listed are very similar to mine. Your timing method also seems similar (B3 taken 2-6 hours beforehand and matcha taken just beforehand)

If you prefer I can buy my exact local products and mail them to you (PM me).

    - My notes of potential differences:
     1. My B3 are in hard tablet form, rather than soft capsule form. Not sure if this matters?
     2. My B3 ingredient is listed as "niacin, nicotinamide". I'm not sure if this is different to just Niacin?
       (link: https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/21113/nature-s-own-vitamin-b3-500mg---vitamin-b---60-tablets)

    Further points:
    - In the 2-6 hour period beforehand I only ate a light meal and did not drink alcohol. I'm yet to test if that matters.
    - Matcha powder is very potent. I only took 1/3 teaspoon to a small cup. I drank all the powder that falls to the bottom of the cup.

    Results I get:
    - I am very clear minded even after O. This is a welcome but strange feeling for someone who suffers POIS.
    - I can still sleep well with this level of tea (whereas a late night coffee leaves me awake and jittery)
    - I do not experience any mind or body symptoms on that day/night or in the following days.

Hope this works well for you!

    Hey Gino,

Thanks for clearing this up. I've went ahead and tried your experiment.

I took niacin and waited 3 hours (I flushed) and took Matcha 25 minutes before O. Then, I had an O.

The result was the same symptoms.

It could be the niacin I used, but I doubt there's a difference between ours.

I'm really glad it's working for you. Keep on doing it!

    Anyone have any other recommendations?

Nicotinic acid (niacin) is not the same as nicotinamide (niacinamide), both are called Vitamin B3. I would try it again with nicotinamide.

    Hi The One.

Best to ask your pharmacist how similar my one is to theirs. Mine is a 500mg Niacinamide (also called Nicotinamide) solid white tablet and doesn't make me flush.

Closest i could see on Amazon is this 250mg tablet: https://www.amazon.com/Vitacost-Niacinamide-Vitamin-B-3-Tablets/dp/B006GJHJ4Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3

Read up on the difference between Niacin (flush) and Niacinamide (also called Nicotinamide) (non flush). Importantly do not cut or crush the tablet:

    https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-6926/niacinamide-oral/details

I hope you can fully recover before the next attempt.

It turns out I bought the wrong version of niacin. The new one (niacinamide) is the same form as yours.

My 30 Day Success with Nanna 1's Immune Competence Therapy
    « Reply #16 on: November 16, 2021, 10:55:45 AM »
"You newer models are happy scraping the poop because you've never seen a miracle."

I suffered from POIS since my first orgasm at 13.

I had the following symptoms for 1-5 days:

    -Fatigue
    -Brain Fog
    -Anxiety
    -Social Awkwardness
    -Depression
    -Intense Irritability

I tried everything. But the only things that worked was Nanna's previous stack (https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=cu9mb7ij2nh8mtf31k3hduqi26&topic=2502.0)...

...and Nanna 1's Immune Competence Stack (https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=3151.msg31887#msg31887)

The immune stack stopped all my symptoms.

I can now orgasm without fear as long as I take the pre-pack & wait 90 minutes.

I now know how normal people feel after orgasm. They feel...normal.

Thank you Nanna1 for giving me this miracle. I no longer have to scrape the random cures to find something that works :)

    For those interested...

The Immune Therapy Process I followed:

    1. Take the following 15-20 mins before food, 3X day. You will cycle this stack 6 days on, 4 days off, for 5 months:
     1. QOL Immuno Complex: https://qualityoflife.net/products/immuno-complex
-If not available, then use the following (this is what I used):
       1. AHCC (1 cap): https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Kinoko-Platinum-AHCC-Supplement/dp/B00HG0YZMG
       2. Zinc (1 cap): https://www.amazon.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Supports-Antioxidant-Protection/dp/B0001VKDDM/
       3. Vitamin D3 (1 cap of 5000 IU): Any brand does.
       4. Andrographis (1 cap): https://www.amazon.com/Nutricost-Andrographis-Extract-450mg-Capsules/dp/B09B2QJBDS/
       5. Copper gluconate (1 cap empty stomach): https://www.amazon.com/GNC-Copper-100-Vegetarian-Tablets/dp/B084KJNQHZ/
     2. Vitamin C (2 caps): https://www.amazon.com/DACHA-Nutrition-Natural-Liposomal-Vitamin/dp/B07DR13XSX
     3. Beta-glucan (2 scoops - 1g): https://www.amazon.com/Nutricost-Glucan-Powder-Grams-Servings/dp/B07YCT9CZB/
     4. Folate: < 200mcg (1X, every OTHER day): https://www.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-Active-Quatrefolic-Non-GMO/dp/B005CD33GI

    2. Take 5g Vitamin C IV over 4 days. I spent over $350 for all 4 injections from a local IV therapy near me. I had to split the 4 Vitamin C IVs over 2 weeks (M, W). Take 1 cap copper 3 hrs prior on an empty stomach before IV.

    3. Take pre-pack 90 minutes before orgasm. I orgasmed once a week:
       1. Caffeine (1-2 caps): https://www.amazon.com/Nutricost-Caffeine-Pills-Serving-Capsules/dp/B01MY5CW7S
       2. Citrulline Malate (1 scoop): https://www.amazon.com/Nutricost-L-Citrulline-Malate-Powder-Grams/dp/B00N1A2JM8/
       3. Alpha GPC (2 caps): https://www.amazon.com/Nutricost-Alpha-300mg-Veggie-Capsules/dp/B076XNXLR2
       4. L-Theanine (2 caps): https://www.amazon.com/Nutricost-Pure-L-Theanine-Powder-Grams/dp/B01AAVGK70/
       5. NALT (1 cap): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079NQ1XXW

    (Here's a link to Nanna1's excellently written post: https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=3151.msg31887#msg31887)

In total, I spent $725 for this stack for a 5 month period. It's the best $725 I spent in my life.

    Think about it:

If you don't suffer from POIS any longer, how much would your life improve? That's my justification for the expense.

I will post a 5-month update after I've finished the stack.

So if you still have to take a pre-pack before orgasm I'd not say that the immune competence therapy "stopped all your symptoms". But I guess that you see a real difference between before this therapy with the pre-pack and after it? Did you see a particular difference before and after IV vitamin C? Did the immune supplements generate symptoms by themselves first, as described by nanna?

(Note that I somehow suspect that AHCC triggered or made worse the POTS-like symptoms that I had from time to time, especially in sommer and during hay fever season. So I'm cautious now about it and won't try immune activators anymore. But everybody is different)

Good questions, Prospero! Let me answer them one-by-one.

    Quote
So if you still have to take a pre-pack before orgasm I'd not say that the immune competence therapy "stopped all your symptoms". But I guess that you see a real difference between before this therapy with the pre-pack and after it?

    You're right:

I do need the pre-pack to feel no symptoms. But the pre-pack is part of the immune competency therapy.

After the immune stack is done, I will no longer need to take a pre-pack according to Nanna1.

I've used many pre-packs before and this is the first time I've gotten to 100% relief. It's to the point I can't tell I orgasmed the day before...even if I masturbated 3X that day.

    Quote
Did you see a particular difference before and after IV vitamin C?

Yes, I did. The first week I got 2 vitamin IVs is when I achieved my first 100% relief (and I orgasmed 3X that day).

    For reference:

The week before I was taking the immune stack + pre-pack without the Vitamin C IVs, I experienced all my usual symptoms post-ejaculation.

    Quote
Did the immune supplements generate symptoms by themselves first, as described by nanna?

    Surprisingly no.

But my brother who was on this stack for the first week experienced a really strong headache that caused him to quit.

Luckily, I had zero symptoms except the coming of a strep throat on week 2 and that was it.

    But full disclosure:

I'm like David Dunn from Glass: I never get sick. I don't get headaches. I don't remember the last time I was 'under the weather' except when I'm under a POIS state.

Based on your questions, I assume you're still looking for a working treatment, right?

My advice to you is this:
It's the only treatment that's worked for me so far.

But I can see why some people are hesitant -- it's costly and goes against a lot of the forum's beliefs on the causes.

I held off on his immune stack until I tried EVERYTHING else on the forum. But I don't suggest repeating my mistake. Just try Nanna1's stack.
