Hi IamNotAhuman. :) I have constant "ambient" POIS symptoms regardless of triggers. If I avoid orgasm, exercise and other triggers, the symptoms are lessened, but they never go away completely. For that reason I'm approaching my situation as a general chronic illness, rather than specifically trying to address the post-orgasm symptoms.

So, disclaimer first: Nobody knows for sure what the root cause of any of this is. And for all we know, different POIS cases may have different underlying causes. That said, I've had a bit of success with lifestyle changes to alleviate my ambient symptoms. Basically, my working theory is that 1. I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and orgasm is just one of the triggers, and 2. I have excessive mercury stored up, which keeps triggering my mast cells. Based on that theory, I've started an MCAS-friendly diet, and started taking chlorella about 3 months ago to get rid of mercury. My ambient symptoms are definitely reduced. Maybe 50% reduced or so.

Tip: If you start playing with your diet, make sure to get enough nutrition, and don't eliminate so many foods that you create other problems. :)

Been exposed to mercury?

Yes, I had some big amalgam fillings, including one molar where the filling made up almost the whole tooth. The filling was worn down over the years to the point where it was about 1mm lower than the "wall" of the tooth. As I understand it, there is controversy in the medical community about how much mercury is required to cause symptoms. However it's been proven recently that mercury is a mast cell trigger. See my posts about this in the mercury thread. :)

Idk if it's my cause as I don't recall mercury contact, no mercury fillings, no mercury leak. PostO improved?

Yes, but not drastically. I suspect it'll keep improving. Just to reiterate, I'm not saying this is behind every case, I'm not even 100% sure it's the cause of my own case. Please note that the MCAS idea is independent of mercury exposure. E.g. chronic infections can also trigger mast cells I think, which presumably could cause "ambient" symptoms similar to mine.

What'd be POIS-giving chronic infections?

Great thing about Chlorella is apparently it is a great source of vitamin D and Iron .. two things I am low on , and which is why I take it and the supplements.

I am not a doctor, so please do your own research .. but I would do the following , if I was in POIS state (I think I am in low pois state)

1) write tasks down and do them 1 at a time as writing ... e.g. write , clean up floor , then clean up floor !

I find the above helps me focus out of fog and get a few things done. It takes time ,and it is stop start but I have always gone back to this exercise , pois can put you into and anxious state where you need to focus on one thing at a time to get yourself out.

2) vitamin d/zinc/fenugreek and magnesium

3) red apples and some really good full meals

4) some light regular exercise, whatever you can handle

5) yoga is excellent !

6) yoga builds up low level fitness , which lets me start bigger fitness goals eventually

7) try the half seated twist pose

8) floradix is another good supplement as is l-glutamine and if you can get it - cows colusturum and also some kind of parasite drug , for threadworms , like Ovex

9) a good walk in nature is always great

10) lots of fluids water

11) a yoga class or a massage or reflexology

12) green leafy leaves in a blender

13) some protein , I don?t think it?s good to be close to ketosis when in pois

14) get in touch with your hips and pelvis .. shake/twist/move .. get blood circulating

15) a bitter hot drink, to stimulate digestion - I like the effect of wormwood tea

16) if you can fit in a colonic somehow, they have been good in the past, haven?t done one for ages

17) rest

18) nuts and pistachios are good too

19) go for a dump , black coffee if that is what you need ?? As a laxative .. I have been amazed at how many times fog has lifted after going for a number 2!

Know that you will be ok and it will pass.

Hope some of this is useful, it?s all personal to me, I hope it also assists you mate.

You will snap out of it , this will get less and less and less frequent ..

Sometimes it can take time for your stores of vitamins to rebalance and your gut to get better
Too.

A couple of things that have assisted my sleep :

- detox patches for the feet - you stick them on at night
- aloe Vera colon cleanse tabs at night
- lots of press ups

In the U.K. both of the above can be purchased from the health store Holland and barrett

Thanks Berlin!

Am going to read up more on Iberogast and NAD.

Both seem interesting, just to throw something else I do find useful , aloe Vera juice, colloidal silver, silicol gel ...

There are lots of things that help ..

The holy grail is prevention !

Permanent prevention ..

Nice , re the aloe Vera plant .. nothing beats a home made source !

Something else to throw in..

Not sure how many of you have to sit at the office chair infront of a laptop all day ?

I am experimenting with a standing desk this week !

It?s only been a couple of days , but I think it is great for posture and strengthening legs and back, which I am sure is a good thing..
