POIS more than 7 days anyone?
« on: January 21, 2019, 12:34:48 AM »
I dont see any end to my POIS, in fact it may be regressing.  Last time it was 8 days.  Tonight my recent POIS episode should have ended it being the 7th day, however it hasn't.  I suspect this time also it would be 8 days long.

No end in sight.  I have added few things since (I'm hardpressed to think that these additions could have had impact):  AHCC, Taurine, Milacin, and Milk Thistle

Hi Swell,

About a year ago my POIS symptoms lasted 3 weeks (about 20 days) with day's 2 through 5 being the worst, and POIS had slowly gotten worst over 25 years.  This has all reversed lately and POIS is now 2 to 3 days.

It could be the AHCC (alpha-glucan, beta-glucan). I would take a few grams of vitamin C, drink lots of water and get adequate sleep to help the AHCC work (if that is what is causing the symptoms). A Lymphocyte Subset Panel Test might tell you if AHCC is involved with symptoms.
But test like this that measure Natural Killer cells, T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes can help (Lymphocyte Subset Panel Test). If you cannot get one test that has all three cell counts, you can order them individually. A total lymphocyte count may not reveal a NK cell deficiency because NK deficiencies are often compensated by T cell over-expression.

Individual Lymphocyte test:
CD56+ or CD16+ = NK cell test
CD4+ (helper) and CD8+ (suppressor) = T cell test also T-Lymphocyte Helper/Suppressor Profile
CD19+ = B cell test

I am in a POIS state for more than 3 months now. It was triggered by POIS. I became sick 3 months ago after sexual activity. Since then I have a few POIS-symptoms: feeling sick, feeling cold and insomnia. When I go outside in the cold I am fedling more sick. When I take a hot shower I get very sick. When I take a lukewarm shower I get a bit more sick. I have hives, but it is not that scrating my skin all the time. And there are no big red spots. Only 2 or 3 small red spots.

Maybe I messed up my sleep because at the last sexual activity I stayed up almost until morning. Maybe it is a sleep problem. I have trouble falling in sleep. It takes more than 1 hour. So that is why I want to try chronotherapy to fix my insomnia. At this therapy you sleep every day 3 hours laters. You go around the clock until you are at the time of your ideal sleeping time. I will talk about my doctor and if it is ok I will start this therapy this week.

In the past I only had POiS episodes of a week or more when I had sex 2 days in a row.

POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.

We have subzero temperatures at the moment. Could you dress yourself in a way that you barely lose any heat when going outside? Cover your neck, head, hands and use thick winter clothing, if necessary use two pants. Then go for a walk during the evening when it's freezing. Acclimatizing to outside temperatures could have a different effect than acute exposure. It sounds like your system cannot adapt well to quick changes. Just test this out.

Yes I wear 2 pants and a lot of clothes, gloves, everything. But I still feeling cold even days after I went outside. I always feel bad during winter, but never worse as it is now. My POIs is 200% worse during winter compared to the summer. It is better for me to abstain during the whole winter. I abstained now for 3 months but still feeling sick.

Vitamin D3 with K2 might help. Currently I take 20,000 iu of D3, which is a large dose and not recommended without periodic testing, and it greatly controls/calms my immune function and regulates my circadian rhythm to boot.

I recommand vitamin D for this symptom : muscle tremors (in and out of Pois).
3 months I take high dose of magnesium for this without success.
Only 1 or 2 weeks after taking 5000 UI + mg my tremors goes away!
Taurine = Anti-Pois

Hey Vandemolen,

Not sure about your pois sub-type, but 3 months of pois might well wear out even a distinguished Ironman, so just wanted to share what works best for me to break the pois-cycle and generally is a quick-fix are NSAIDs (meloxicam or etoricoxib), preferably selective ones as they softer on the stomach and overall have less contraindications than the 1st-gen NSAIDs like ibuprofen. Usually 2-3 tablets (1 per day) do the trick. Hope you get back to normal soon!

Thanks Gabin, but my state is partly caused by a destroyed intestinal flora. Because I used a lot of antibiotics. I did not used antibiotics for almost 2 months now. That is a record for me during the last 5 years. So I do not want to undo that by taking NSAID’s. Because they destroy the gut too.

I already take 50.000 IU of vitamin D3 in a week. Sometimes I take 2 pills of 50.000 IU in a week. But that is only once in 3 months.

My tongue is white for 3 months now. I think because of a weak immune system.

Hi Vandemolen

The same problems for me.  Though I live in a tropical city(Chennai) I still could not withstand even the very mild winter here.
I also have abstinence for close to 2 months now.  But my health has not improved at all.  Usually I tend to get better after 4 or 5 days in normal pois.  But I think this time due to continuous use of antibiotics (Augumentin and Ciprofloxacin) for close to  4 months( for a lung infection ) has made my health worse.  I have the same worn out look which usually happens after orgasm without ever having one.

I am currently taking glutamine, collagen peptides and probiotics to fix my gut.  Pois is a not a isolated problem and general health of a person with pois is definitely not good.  Pois worsens that already prevailing problem.  So anything that improves your health must help you in managing your pois.

Haha the winter in Chennai is like the spring in The Netherlands. But to bad you are also sick for a long period. I am not a doctor but what we have in common is the use of antibiotics. I do not know if that is the reason why I am sick for a long time, but a destroyed can not be good for anyone. I am also taking glutamine. And also enzymen.

Thank you Limejuice, 3 months is terrible.  Thank you nanna1, you are spot on.  AHCC caused me a host of issues.  I started taking it in hopes of killing HPV virus, since I have plantar warts on footsole for a decade now and they never went away.  AHCC not only messed with my POIS but it brought back my hay fever or nasal congestion issue which had resolved 10 yrs back.  Please invent some cure before we all die in the misery of POIS.

Has anyone tried Carnosine (not Carnitine).  It has 60% cured my speech issue.

No end in sight.  I have added few things since (I'm hardpressed to think that these additions could have had impact):  AHCC, Taurine, Milacin, and Milk Thistle

My POIS also last about 3 months, and it only triggers by masturbate but not by sex. During POIS my face looks thinned and saggy

I think its very very clear, POIS is caused by a childhood stressful experience leading to a totally altered response to stress in POIS'ers.  This directly leads to Thyroid dysfunction (hypo and hyper), which materially exaggerates innate weaknesses (like nerve weakness turning to paresis, etc), leading to brain fog, anxiety, speech, dysarthia, gut motility, allergies, inflammation.   While you can chase your entire life treating each symptom, which most of us have been doing and which our current day medical practice framework engages in, OR you can nip the problem from the root, i.e. a) Psylocybin mushrooms (if that is legal where you live), and try to re-condition your stress response b) and work on your THYROID (is there way to make it more capital?) i.e. staying away from general MD's, and going straight to a Specialist who is not constraint by the prevailing general practice framework.

My POIS also last about 3 months, and it only triggers by masturbate but not by sex. During POIS my face looks thinned and saggy

Swell I'm glad you found a remedy for your ailment but don't generalize your condition on everybody else, people in this forum could have a perfectly healthy thyroid, we need to do tests before jumping into conclusions.

...THYROID (is there way to make it more capital?)...

THYROID
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business
