What should be included in blood tests for POIS?
« on: November 25, 2023, 05:55:56 AM »
Hello everyone,

I'm planning a visit to my doctor soon and am considering suggesting blood tests, which I haven't done before.

I'm a bit uncertain about how to proceed. Should I give my doctor a list of potential tests? From what I'm seeing on the internet, blood tests often test for specific things (grouped) and aren't testing everything at once.

For example testosterone, prolactin, cortisol, thyroid, vitamin B6, but that's still limited. What should and shouldn't be included? My medical knowledge is quite limited, but am I right in thinking that it's best to provide my doctor with a list? Since my doctor doesn't yet know about POIS.

  • Use Adaptogens and Antioxidants, they can help.

Maybe all kind of stuff, since the causes of POIS could be different from person or person?
(or not even detectable with the usual tests).

But good question.

Maybe add Vitamin D?
B12?

Thanks! I'm going to add those. And you're right, it's not the same for everyone.

I hope this provides a starting point for my doctor.

Thanks a lot!

The only one I can recommend is Vitamin D (not proven to be correlated with POIS yet but based on forum polls)

You may want to look at the lab results of other patients and investigate for yourself: https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2684.0
