Poll: Do you have an impaired sense of smell in POIS?
« on: February 09, 2012, 08:02:29 PM »
"Several areas adjacent to the respiratory tract have one thing in common: They're so small that very little edema (swelling) is necessary to obstruct them. These include the middle ear and the olfactory recess, which controls our sense of smell. When episodes of sinus pain, middle ear problems and loss of sense of smell occur, look to allergy as the cause." - Ralph Bookman, M.D

This is a poll to see how many of us experience reduced or absent sense of smell during POIS.

Decreased sense of smell may indicate early dementia

''A decreased sense of smell appears to be linked to the onset of Alzheimer's, according to an article published in JAMA Neurology.''

I have massive reoccurring nasal polyps. After I get them removed my smell came back. Currently my polyps are giant and I can?t get surgery and I can?t smell or taste anything and they are too big to operate on
POIS sufferer for over 3 decades. Has progressively gotten worse over the years and I became completely disabled around 2011. My case of POIS is very severe.
