Dr. Lorenz responded to me:

“Sertoli cells act in the testes to stabilize the tissues in which sperm cells are grown, secrete important stimulating hormones and eat up wastes that are produced during spermatogenesis. It’s very likely they are involved in POIS, as they act both in an immune and endocrine capacity, are sensitive to a variety of stressors, and communicate with the inflammatory system (which would potentially trigger some of the delayed flu-like symptoms we see in many instances of POIS). But, because they (like most immune-endocrine cells) participate in about eight million functions, it’s really hard to say which are primarily responsible for the POIS cascade, and how.”

How are there only 60 officially recorded cases? What are the POISers and doctors doing? No one who went to doctors for POIS asked for them to be officially diagnosed to be added to that list? Such outdated stats are why some when researching POIS may not accept they have it or nonPOISers dismiss it cuz it makes it seem like it's some ultra rare issue

How the official diagnosis works and how is that list made?

If you had taken the time to investigate a bit, you may have found your answers.   This Google alert is from a local, low-quality health newsreel, and on top of that, badly quotes another low-quality health newsreel or badly quotes the original newsreel at the source of those 2 posts.   In fact, in the initial low-quality article, it was said "at least 60 known cases", as they may have deducted from the cases reported in medical literature, but it was badly quoted in the local health newsfeed in Queensland, Australia, which changed it to "fewer than 60 known cases".  The original is at https://www.insider.com/black-hairy-tongue-vitamin-d-overdose-flu-symptoms-sex-2022-12 , second paragraph.  This short article does not cite any sources.  It is clear that it is a cheap freelancer column-filling article. So, stay calm, nothing to worry about here.   Just an article that was written in a hurry by an unknown freelancer, in order to make some bucks.   Do you think all internet websites are serious, can be trusted, and have medical expert reviewers for their health column?  ;)

You should stick the articles in Muon's list, in the POIS paper archive, at https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=3127.msg31515#msg31515  .  More often than not, Google alerts for POIS point to substandard articles published by non-scientific writers who just want to showcase the "weird" and rare aspect of POIS.

No, and since there is not yet any specific tests to diagnose it, it would be a very demanding task to do so.  There are the Waldingers Criteria, but they are based solely on the clinical presentation.   La_petite_mort scientific survey article about POIS pointed out that one of the criteriums could be modified, but no follow-up has been made yet on this.

A first step would be to evaluate the approximative prevalence of POIS in the general population. When there will be one or more clinics that will keep track of the number of cases in its area and the population they serve, it will be possible to calculate an approx prevalence for this condition ( this implies that we have found one or more diagnostic tests of that there would be MDs proficients with using the clinical criteria to diagnose POIS).  Knowing the prevalence of POIS in a given population, we may have a better idea of how many cases there are in the world.

On prevalence, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prevalence.  Obviously, POIS being a rare disease, its prevalence is very low ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rare_disease ).

A big health site updated their sexual topic article with POIS - very good

This is one of ideas I thought that will help POIS - big health/sexual education sites/articles especially ones showing up on first page google search results when searching is masturbation healthy or ejaculation symptoms, to include POIS in it

This way when in future an unaware POISer searches online instead of seeing it being said that masturbation is healthy and can't give symptoms and them turning to sr/nofap starting to believe there is some conspiracy to hide the truth about negative side effects they'll realize they just have POIS and it isn't the norm

So whoever knows how to contact those health/sex ed site article writers do it and tell them to implement POIS info with symptom description

I personally believe that POIS is considered rare because it goes undiagnosed and people can't put the connection together. For us, the severity of the symptoms were so bad that we were lucky enough to see the connection.

If more and more people were aware of the symptoms, abstained for a while and then engaged in an orgasm and see the effects they would realise the correlation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBlfrv5_LTk

Marnia's research show's this is actually a biological process in most humans due to our mating or bonding programs. Orgasm activates a mating program and creates POIS like systems if procreation is not achieved.

Perhaps ours has gone in overdrive somewhere due to whatever reasons. I am not sure if I was born with this or if this was a measure my body had taken due to compulsive masturbation and porn use in my early teens.

I know for one thing for sure. 3 years of complete celibacy does not make this go away!

I do recommend this search engine over google:
https://presearch.com/

Thanks, but do they have an Alert System Service - - like Google does - -  where I can receive POIS News emailed to me “as-it-happens”??

_without_ my having to search for it?

***Google*** (not me!) does all the realtime POIS search for me daily, then reports back to me - - daily!

If not, I’ll just stick to Google. Thanks, anyway.

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business
