POIS CURED
« on: September 14, 2019, 05:23:46 AM »
POIS, gone.  Until you guys realize this is an allergy you will keep spinning your wheels.  I'm cured, used to take antihistamines, for 5 years when my system hypodesensitized itself to the reaction, now I'm cured, haven't taken anything since February 2018.

Until you guys realize this is an allergy...

Or MCAS. This could be true in your case but that doesn't mean it's true for POIS in general, that's the main problem we are dealing with here.

Sounds to me you have stabilized mast cells. Perhaps keeping mast cells calm for a long period of time gives the body room to desensitize itself. Not sure if I have asked this before but have they found elevation of IgE? If not then you could rule out a type 1 allergy. If POIS is a symptom of MCAS we probably will not find any greatest common divisor by research until MCAS research itself progresses.

So what did you actually do to cure yourself?

Ok yeah anti-histamines work for him, which don't work for me.
We really need lab evidence for the claims of many people in this forum who claimed "a cure".
I'm beginning to think that SOME people claiming to have POIS are curing themselves psychologically. Only lab tests can prove the legitimacy of their claims.

Everyone who has this condition needs to find the chronic problem that is leading to POIS. In the case of our friend who got the cure, he had a chronic allergy and got the cure by treating the allergy. In my case that I have chronic spinal pain, I get no symptoms if the spine is painless and well strengthened. Some cases involving nerve damage, fungal infections, rheumatologic problems are harder to find a cure.
My POIS only happens with masturbation. Normal sex does not generate POIS symptoms. My POIS is related to me mood and the health of my cervical spine. Dopamine/Inflammation/Body constitution (genetics) are factors that contribute to POIS.

It will get fixed if you take various growth factors on a sustained basis - 3, 4 months at least.  POIS is our body entering a freeze/hibernation state and I believe the culprit being a thin epithelium layer in veins and mucus lining.  Semen is a heavily protected substance as it travels through vas deferens etc, and the thin epithelium (like leaky gut) is prone to cause reactions, various symptom manifestations that POIS'ers get.   I dont want to boast, but I fortunately now feel even better after ejaculation (like normal people).

POIS Free, 2+ yrs (occasional/predictive lapses)
Pois symptoms: Peripheral (Skin: Urticaria, dryness, pale blotchy skin), Exasperation of: [Nerve weakness, Muscle weakness + Mental (CNS: Brain Fog, Irritation, Isolation, Speech lethargy, Anxiety)].
Other conditions: ASD, ADD, GA

I scanned through happy2's posts, and it seems this was the protocol:

Quote
I would focus on taking Zyrtec for an extended period of time, then take 50mgs of Benadryl immediately following O. This worked for me.  You may want to load up your first time trying it to say 20mgs of Zyrtec the day of, and 75-100 mgs of Benadryl immediately after O.

Unfortunately, Benadryl is not available in my country (Netherlands), so I can't test this.

Male, INTJ. POIS symptoms: red eyes, ear-pain, anxiety, speech problems, pale/ugly skin, stiff neck, double chin, tinnitus, light sensitivity. POIS even after stimulation without O.

I may have found some interesting connections here. This article [1], titled The role of antihistamine therapy in vascular headaches, proposes that histamine and migraine attacks are related.

Quote
Migraine (vascular) headache is a complex syndrome that involves vascular hyperreactivity.
...
it has been demonstrated fairly conclusively that increased histamine levels correlate with migraine attacks in susceptible persons.
...
Vascular (migraine) headache is an idiopathic dis- order associated with disturbances of the vascular sys- tem.

This is relevant because some have already made the connection between POIS and migraine. Others have made a connection between POIS and vascular system (e.g. niacin which causes vasodilation). And then there is the connection between migraine and histamine.

But beware, some counter-evidence is given here: [2]

Article:

Research has found that vitamin D supplementation in conjunction with anti-histamine and systemic corticosteroid use produces an elevated response in resolving the symptoms of chronic urticaria (chronic hives).

Another interesting post related to histamine here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoFap/comments/3uqjbx/pmo_and_histamine_this_might_change_your_life/

Quote

Many users on these forums report that their POIS symptoms are due to inflammation and they find relief of their symptoms with NSAIDS and anti-inflammatory meds (personally, naxopren works wonders for my symptoms).

Another finding was that vitamin B3, or Niacin, helped relieve the forum members of up to 80% of their symptoms! This was a breakthrough for me, so I put it to the test (sorry nofap, but it had to be done). I popped 400mg of niacin 20 minutes before an MO, waited for the flush and then popped another 400mg along with some NSAIDS. Safe to say I didn't feel tired or as worn out as I usually do post-O. The next day? My head was clear, no brain fog, I felt well rested with the energy and vitality I hadn't felt in months!

I kept researching Niacin and why it was so effective. I found out niacin flushes out the histamines and toxins in my your body. What role does histamine play in nofap? After any kind of sexual stress (ahem, PMO) your basophils release histamine, which is broken down by an enzyme called Diamine Oxidase (DAO).

I'm still a rookie to this research, but due to a few genetic mutations in the population, some people have low levels of this DAO enzyme which causes histamine to build up in the body, eventually reaching the brain and causing symptoms of brain fog. Those who can't process histamine properly in the body are known as "histamine intolerant"

A person with histamine intolerance usually had other problems aside from high histamine build up. These people also can't process vitamin B-12 and folic acid (which release histamine in the body) as well as high histamine foods, or at least that seems to be the case so far.

Anecdotally, ever since I've eliminated high histamine foods and introduced mast-cell stabilizers that control the release of histamine, my brain fog has been non-existent.

More info in the link.

It seems that the brain produces histamine, [1], also as a side-effect of arousal. Makes sense.

Quote
Neurons that produce histamine are exclusively located in the tuberomamillary nucleus of the posterior hypothalamus and send widespread projections to almost all brain areas. Neuronal histamine is involved in many physiological and behavioral functions such as arousal, feeding behavior and learning. Although conflicting data have been published, several studies have also demonstrated a role of histamine in the psychomotor and rewarding effects of addictive drugs.

Just found an interesting looking page [1] relating histamine and a form of POIS.

After looking into it a little, I'm wondering: is histamine sensitivity really an existing condition?

This page [2] says that "Your doctor might also take a blood sample to analyze if you have a DAO deficiency."

(DAO is an enzyme that breaks down histamine)

Did anyone here ever hear of this test or had it done?

It seems that the test has a scientific foundation, see [3].

Yes it might be a good test. Coffee and things like asprin can inhibit the dao enzyme and both of them some times can make me feel good but if I have too much days in a row I don't feel great

h3 receptor has to be involved in POIS as it can inhibit the release of all neurotransmitters
