Fecal microbiota transplant
« on: September 24, 2018, 08:36:36 AM »
Has anyone tried Fecal microbiota transplant? That’s transplant of healthy poop. I think POIS has something to do with the gut. So this might be a solution. Maybe it’s worth to try to find a doctor who does this and is willing to accept POIS as a dissease.

Wikipedia:
Fecal microbiota transplant (FMT), also known as a stool transplant,[1] is the process of transplantation of fecal bacteria from a healthy individual into a recipient. FMT involves restoration of the colonic microflora by introducing healthy bacterial flora through infusion of stool, e.g. by colonoscopy, enema, orogastric tube or by mouth in the form of a capsule containing freeze-dried material, obtained from a healthy donor. The effectiveness of FMT has been established in clinical trials for the treatment of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI),[2][3] whose effects can range from diarrhea to pseudomembranous colitis.

POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.

Did someone checked his intestinal flora at a lab? In The Netherlands there is The National Fecel Bank. It’s like a blood bank, but for feces. I will ask my POIS doctor if they can check me there.

I saw on their website it’s 1000 euro for 1 treatment. They don’t accept everybody as a patient. They accept patiens with Clostridium difficile infection and Colitis. But maybe if my doctor ask them they will accept me. If it doesn’t help against POIS maybe it help against prostate infections. If not at least my intestinal flora gets better, because I use a lot of antibiotics.

For now I am not going to do the Fecal Transplant. In The Netherlands they are working a project for ‘Urine Transplant’. Trough the urethra you get healthy urine in your bladder. I don’t know anything else on the project. I hope that it will be available in 2019.

Just an idea but : why not try to rebuild microbiota with probiotics and prebiotics ?
Taurine = Anti-Pois

I am on VSL#3 and I drink Kefir and eat yoghurt. I also take a garlic pill. So I am already on it. But it doesn’t help. Maybe because I have to use antibiotics all the time. If I am sexually active I can only take a break of 1 week without antibiotics. Otherwise I get very sick because of prostatitis.

There is a second hospital in The Netherlands where they perform fecal transplant. But also there only for people with clostridium difficile. I read that The US puts a lot of money in fecal transplant research. Maybe there they will accept also POIS patients?

I also think its something about the gut. Ive tried ox bile and it helped, and stopped helping. Now doing betaine HCL and I absolutely sure I have low stomach acid. I tried betaine HCL before and didn't get any result, but now I take the capsules with only a few sips of water and the difference is huge. Missing aminos would indicate inability to break down protein, so its in line with betaine HCL.

I seem to react to oligosaccharides (FODMAP) and my digestive system seems to be shot, like I can't even handle starch. If I only eat meat with sugar and betaine HCL Im completely fine, but I get deficiencies fast.

I find it very striking that although not all, for many of us, Poisers, we have problems with gluten ... something must be linked with POIS, I guess. but it does not happen to all of us ... but in a sufficient number to take it into account, I guess....

...and also, not only with gluten....

Yes, this started for me with gluten. When I turned 30 some gene or something suddenly turned on and from then on I couldn't handle gluten. Or maybe I did some damage to the digestive system somehow, like I had a really nasty food poisoning that lasted a week, a couple months before becoming gluten intolerant.

POIS feels like gluten symptoms, for me mostly brain-fog and sort of blurry vision. Other things feel similar to gluten, like potato, egg or milk. I just get worse every year that passes. When you can't handle gluten your digestive system becomes inflamed. After cutting gluten you. might be so inflamed that other stuff will irritate your GI tract too even though you would normally handle them.

If you lack enzymes, bile or stomach acid then you will get undigested food irritating your intestines. Gluten is a protein. I wonder if a lot of gluten intolerance is stomach acid deficiency. It seems stress can damage your stomach acid production.

Have you tried eating only meat for a day (with white sugar dissolved in water)? That should eliminate all GI irritation, unless you lack stomach acid - then you'll feel worse.

My POIS doctor told me that in the US there is a pill that costs 400 dollars and there are all the bacteria from healty feces. In The Netherlands there is only a feces transplant. But only for certain patients. They do not accept POIS patients. My POIS doctor said that feces and bacteria could be a solution for POIS.

I thought Dr Waldinger was your POIS doctor. Can you say who it is since Dr W passed away?
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business
