Non-arousal triggers of pois-like symptoms
« on: July 30, 2018, 06:03:32 AM »
This is a new thread (sorry if there has been a similar one before) where people can post any experiences of when they have had POIS-like symptoms triggered by events other than sexual stimulation/ejaculation. If there are some, it might help us spot patterns in what brings on these symptoms in us and help find a mechanism for how POIS symptoms arise.

The idea for this post comes from Vandemolen's recent experience which I quote here:

"I made a mistake with vitamin D. I took 3 pills of 50.000 IE in 1 week. Normally I have to take 1 pill. I got sick. The symptoms are the same as Hypercalcemia. Next week my blood will be checked to see if my calcium level is too high. The symptoms I had were just like POIS: overall malaise, feeling cold even it was hot, feeling weak, nauseous, depression, pain in the sides at the place where the kidney’s are. If my calcium isn’t too high. Then maybe the high dose of vitamin D shook up my immune system. That’s why I think POIS does the same."

In the past, before treatment and in younger days: POIS-like (or out of the ordinary) symptoms would appear with

- exercise
- hot showers
- jet lag
- alcohol
- sunshine

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

All the things that kill me :D
Sunshine (hot temperature) and excessive exercice or work make me depressive.
Few alcohol, even 1/2 glass "cuts my legs" (I mean it drains my energy) and make me depressive.
Jet lags (sleeping late morning too) kill me.
Only hot showers seems not to affect me :)

since I received blows in my pelvic area riding in sledges. Yes I exert pressure on the perineal area or testicular area, just sitting down. the symptoms of POIS are slowly appearing and becoming stronger and stronger. until I can not take it anymore and I'm forced to get up. Now the situation has become much more complicated. because since the last time I had an ejaculation, the 'sensitive' area that activates POIS symptoms by simple pressure has spread to the buttocks and lower back. With which. life is complicating me a lot. as I describe in this one Post:

-Scratching chin- I could induce POIS-like illness from scratching my chin on the left side or pulling out the hairs on the left side of my chin. I would usually have to do it for like 15 mins or so. But the severity would increase if I was already in POIS (my symptoms).
-Emotional stress (prolonged anxiety)-
-Exercise (intense)-

Nearly the same for me Nanna1

You've only on the left chin.  I have on both the chins.

my other triggers

moderate pois symptoms
1. After shaving, especially clean shaving with a razor and having a face wash.
2. After a head shower.
3. when having high stress

full pois symptoms  (brain fog, slurring of speech for a few days, sinus problems, gut disturbances etc)

If I get a head shower after having a hair cut.

You have a clear difference in/out of Pois. "ON/OFF".
Does your cure with wolberries still working ?
Some guys said they have good improvement with pomegranate juice.

I tried yesterday 50cl of pure organic pomegranate juice and it seems to help me too.
Maybe it works like your berries effect ?

I think we should not blame POIS for all our pains. A symptom like feeling sick (malaise) and feeling itchy and cold can have many reasons. It could be that something else than POIS is causing this.
POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.

You will have psychosis and weight loss , kidney stone... You will urinate frequently and white stuff come out if urine..  Get it treated ... I made a mistake by taking high doses of vitamin D in the past and end up sick where i couldn't get up off from my bed ... The symptoms i got from Vitamin D weight loss, kidney stone ( temporary ) , psychosis almost like schizophrenia , nausea , extremely headache migraine but once you pee out the white chalky stuff come out your urine you feel a short term relief just like you take high doses of Tylenol or too much NSAID...

I did not had or have the symptoms you mention. And I had my calcium checked. It was a bit high but in the normal range. Vitamin D was a bit too high (160). I stopped taking 50.000 IE vitamin D a few weeks. And then I started again. Two weeks ago my vitamin D was even higher:171. I stopped with vitamin D and I will not take those high dose pills anymore. Maybe only during winter, but just the low dose pills.

Vitamin D could ge a trigger for my hot flushes. I had hot flushes after the dose of 150.000 IE in a week. I was sick for 10 days. Then I was ok for a few months. But after taking Clomid the flushes came back. Now I am sick for 5 months. Clomid raises testosterone. And vitamin D is also a hormone. Maybe it triggered a hormone problem that was already there.

You said you made the same mistake. How did your doctor treated that? I have to wait for the results of my blood and urine test before making any move.

Yes it is important to treat health problems in time. And we do not have to assume that it is 100 percent POIS related. When your doctor helps you to get rid of a non POIS sickness you will feel better in general and maybe the POIS will also be less extreme.
