chronic prostatitis
« on: August 31, 2017, 09:58:11 PM »
For me chronic prostatitis is now a bigger problem for me than POIS. My POIS only latsts 1 day because of the desens I did. But chronic prostatitis is painfull for weeks. Even when I am on antibiotics, which is almost the whole year. I think my chronic prostatitis is connected to POIS. Does anyone else has chronic prostatitis? What do you do to regulate the problem?
POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.

Did you experience this problem before desens?

Yesterday I ate bad and was in prostatitis, probably prostatitis was also triggered by abstinence and continued sexual arousal because I have an affair with a woman in these days but I am avoiding masturbation, after orgasm prostate don't longer felt bad but now I am in POIS, I don't want to masturbate for prostatitis however, I prefer prostatitis to POIS because POIS dump me at cognitive level, prostatitis is only pain that can be calmed down.

Yes I had prostatitis a few years before desens. A few years ago I had prostate problems a few weeks in a year. The last years almost the whole year. The desens could make the prostate problems worse. On the other hand I stopped desens a year ago, but my prostate problems only get bigger.

Ejuculation brings prostate problems. Abstince helps. My urolgist who never heard of POIS said that I should ejuculate often because that helps with the prostate problems, but then the POIS comes in. And also the prostate problems get worse.

Went to see a new pelvic floor physiotherapist. He said that I sit to much and on the wrong way. Also I drive too much. More than 18.000 miles (30.000 km) a year. And I have a sitting job. When I masturbate I also sit more than two hours behind my computer.

I bought a pillow for my car. And I am going to ask at work if I can have a desk where you can stand.

These specialists are a waste of time, money and energy for POIS patients. Not worth the effort.

I am not there for POIS. I want to reduce my prosititis. It sounds logic that sitting a lot is not good for the prostate. And the POIS also has a negative effect on my prostate.

I agree, Muon. I spent/wasted countless hours and $$$$ on specialists.

However, I did find one that worked for me: an endocrinologist

But I was just...lucky.

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

The pelvic floor physiotherapist already knew POIS. He checked this forum while I was there. I am very happy that I went to see him. Because of him I know will get a standing adjustable desk at work. And I also bought one for at home. I think that will reduce my prostate pain a bit.

And again, I didn’t went to the pelvic floor physiotherapist for POIS, but for prostititis.

Hi Vandemolen,

I think I also have prostatitis problem due to POIS.
And I think I began with this prostatitis after I have been riding on sled two months ago.

The result is that now I have to be very cautious before sitting. Sometimes can't sit. Because POIS symtoms arise quickly if i don't stand up. To remediate it I was taking prednisone, under the control of an internist doctor. For the moment it is relieving worst symtoms. But don't know yet if after taking it will be able to sit normally again.

I also used desketoprofen, with good results but only during a few hours. For the moment prednisone is the best solution.

Visiting the pelvic floor physiotherapist was my best decision this year. I went from antiobiotic all the time to 2 times in 3 months. I have less UTI symptoms since I looked out for my prostate. It really helps to work standing.

I developed some kind of tear in my perineum. It seems like it tries to heal but the pain comes back after every O.

I did see a urologist who checked my prostate and my prostate is fine. So the issue is in my perineum, some kind of pelvic floor muscle tear. Not sure if that helps you at all.

Have you had your prostate checked by a doctor? Not a pleasant experience but worthwhile to rule out prostatitis.

Yes my prostate was checked by 3 doctors. My family doctor, at the hospital and a special men’s clinic. They didn’t find anything at the prostate.

After every sexual activity I get a prostate infection/UTI. So I use a lot of antibiotics. Because of the antibiotics I get candida. So my question is, is there an alternative for antibiotics. I use garlic and cranberry pills, but they don’t help me.

Hi Vandemolen,

Sometimes it is not the prostate, but other glands that actually can be part of the problem.

Infection/Inflammation in the bulbo-urethral (cowper's) glands is often ignored by doctors. Any swelling in this gland is not detected by the usual ultrasound imaging test.

     https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10687976

Another gland - the seminal vesicles could also be affected. A trans-rectal ultrasound imaging test can check if this gland is enlarged.
    https://www.epainassist.com/pelvic-pain/testicles/seminal-vesiculitis

Do  you have any problems with urine flow after an ejaculation ( or even otherwise) - weak flow, dribbling, frequent urination, unable to hold the urine etc.?

A simple uroflowmetry test can confirm if there is a urine flow problem. A retrograde urethrogram test can then confirm where there is a blockage/narrowing of the urethra - as this can potentially cause chronic infections/inflammation or can be due to past infections/injuries.

Not really suggesting you do these tests/procedures. Some of these may be expensive and can cause discomfort.  And of course left to the doctor's judgement. But my personal experience has been that an examination of the  entire urethral tract upto the bladder (like a cystoscopy or urethrogram) can sometimes reveal problems in that area while blood tests can't.
I did have flowmetry a few times. And everything was well. I also did a scopy trough the urethra. They didn’t find anything. The prostate was just a bit swollen. There was only a small cyst near the testicle. And there were prostate stones. They said every has prostate stones and that cyst was very small. I will check the links about the other glands. Thanks.

The cyst is very small and inside. I can’t see it and it doesn’t hurt. I asked tye doctor if they could remove the cyst. But he said that the operation is not without risks because there are a lot of nerves.

Maybe next to the protitis I have mechanical urethritis. Because I masturbate for hours. When I had full POIS I used to do this only once a month, so I thought I have to enjoy this as long as I can because the next time is over a month. I kept this routine even when my POIS got less worse. Now I do it 3 or 4 times a month. But still for hours. That’s not healthy for the urethra. Even not for men who don’t have POIS. I will abstain for a few weeks. And next time I will try to finish in 1 or 2 hours.

My doctor gave me Fosfomycin for my prostatitis. Normally Fosfomycin is used by women. They take it only once, sometimes 3 times for a week. But for prostatitis you have take every day 1 for 1 week. And then during at least 5 weeks 1 in 48 hours. I hope it will work. Research showed it workd for some men. The good thing about Fosfomycin is that it doesn’t cause candida.

1) How exactly do you know your prostatitis is caused by an infection?

2) What diagnostic criteria did they use for diagnosing your brothers with Crohn's disease?
