« on: October 07, 2011, 05:15:38 AM »
Hi. Is somebody taking something against Male Patern Baldness. In the internet there so many horrorstories about finasteride so i didnt take it. Can it have some effect on pois?

I looked into taking finasteride to reduce my libido, but some of the side-effects reported on forums seemed as bad as POIS itself so I decided against it. I hate how official sites or doctors rarely report the actual side-effects and the actual rates of side-effects and that you have to go searching through forums to find the truth.
Taking ginger tea, no wheat, fenugreek+green tea/garlic, saw palmetto, niacin, boswellia, huperzine, B complex and nutmeg. See my treatment summary post for more info: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=81.msg3513#msg3513

It would be interesting to do a poll on how many of us have hair loss in general.  Possible pattern in relation to pois?  Only one way to find out!

I remember back in the day, whilst attempting to study in a state of POIS, that I used just groom my hair with my hands, kinda like an OCD and I used to have ALOT of hair falling out. I have a bald patch at the top of my scalp and have quite a receeding hairline, also my hair is thin.

ok i think you may find this interesting. while bieng on a dairy free diet for over couple years pois hasent been so bad and i dident start losing hair till i started dairy again.    taking prozac with high vitamin d and calcium magnesium.  this chalky stuff comes out, i now dont lose hair. everytime i drink milk or eat alot of dairy i feel the pois symptoms, then taking prozac with high vitamin d and calcium magnesium after having dairy, this chalky stuff comes out of urine i feel better in a single instant it comes out, like right away. my head feels clearer n less yucky right as soon as i pee . almost like when u orgasm ur symptoms come on in a quik second.

Thank you community! I am no longer alone, with “unreal” symptoms.
I have hypothyroidism & constipation (toilet every 3 days or more). Worst constipations = more pois, & lots of mucus in the stools, or just mucus coming out.

I have full Male Pattern Blindness at 33, and started losing hair from 23 or so.
33 years old, POIS for around 12 years with increasing severity.
Major symptoms - Severe fatigue, back pain, unrefreshed even after 9+ hours sleep, pain behind eyes, very dry face, bald head with inflamed scalp, digestion issues and constipation. Very low testosterone and high glucose in blood tests

joelawerence, I hope that [“Blindness”] was a typo!

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

I have pois since the age of 14. I have never had hair loss.
This forum is multifaceted, there is a survey where you can verify that all users of pois are for sexual excesses? Thank you

Often seen, rarely recognized: mast cell activation disease - a guide to diagnosis and therapeutic options

Table 1 Dermatologic: excessive hair loss (15%).

I know that local PGD2 release could lead to hair loss.

Is there a possibility that we have MCAS, just triggered in different POISers through different ways? From what I understand by reading here and there (not yet in depth, though), MCAS can be caused in different ways. For example, maybe for some of us, it is some toxin, for others, maybe it is something else? But the cells are from the same area somehow?

Yes

"Elevated levels of PGD2 and PGD2 synthase in scalp hair follicles may be partially responsible for male pattern baldness."

I started losing hair at 35 and but really didn't noticed serious receding and a spot on the back of my head until the age of 40. I decided to just grow a beard and shave my head. I know it's not as simple as that for others but it's the decision I made. The pills, creams and shampoo all seemed to have notable side effects with minimal return. Hair transplants costs some serious money and for that amount I'd go with dental personally. It did really suck at first and I honestly struggled with it tremendously for awhile but in a short amount of time myself and everyone around me got used to the new look and hey I save $300+ a year going to the barber. I have no issues with attracting women but at this point I'm going no sex so really makes to difference for me at this time.
