Incidentally, I'm just reading more about involvement of the vagus nerve in immunomodulation/inflammation too...Early days but interesting...

I made a topic for taurine only to not disturb other ones.
Your supplement is good but what you say about poor absorbtion is true. To increase it, you need pepper. Piperine increase 20 times the absorbtion of curcumin.

Yes, many supplements use black pepper to increase absorption.

Glad to hear you are giving it a shot mellivora! That supplement looks decent. The best extraction methods use supercritical CO2 extraction to get the curcuminoids out and concentrated, keep an eye out for companies that do that!
Turmeric and Rosemary 30-45 minutes before orgasm for anti-inflammatory and immune support has helped me a lot. Faster and easier than niacin approach.

I took a curamin capsule 6h ago, unfortunately my POIS continued worsening during those 6h :(

This is Day 1 after O.

Take it before. I've had much better results taking it 2x a day, and on days I orgasm I take 1 extra 30 minutes before O.

Ok I will try that. Do you take it with food? What time do you take it? Sorry if this has been posted b4

Damn, the anti-inflammatory effect of curcumin increases the synthesis of tryptophan to serotonin... and this is a viscious circle broken.
If Pois has a real inflammtory effect then serotonin is necessarily decreased witout forget serotonin co-factors present in sperm itself.
In all cases curcuma MUST help with lot of symptoms linked to serotonin.

This is surprising to me to read, because usually if there is any serotonergic activity from a substance I'm taking I notice quickly. I become nervous, agitated and sick, but I've been taking curcumin for over 3 months now. Do you have a citation?

I have no time to give details (lot of work) . The study curcuma vs fluoxetine is easy to found. For the others links, I  need to check scientific references. I will answer next days.

I'm curious, it's been a little while since I posted about this: has anyone tried to treat with curcumin?

Yes it helped when I changed regimen to 2 caps taken 3 times a day. Anything less than this and the relief of symptoms was significantly less. I'm ordering another brand labelled Super Bio-curcumin to try.. Apparently its potent at 1 cap per day. The other brand you mentioned is not able to be shipped to my country.

Great! Can you explain exactly how it helped? And as you can see, the appropriate strength is important. Maybe I could order some of the ones I use and send them to you? Hopefully this would not be too expensive?

Thats very good of you Nightingale, I appreciate that. Let me try this bio-curcumin first and report back if its a suitable substitute for curamin. If its not then I will certainly follow up on your kind offer.

How curamin helped is the POIS seems to cause a fibromyalgia-like state where pain and stiffness pervade the body. Daily exercise and massage/ointments help but only fleetingly. The curamin helps lessen the pain and stiffness and flow on effects like disturbed sleep, mood disorder etc. I would say it helps reduce symptoms by around 40%, which is not insignificant. That is if its taken 2 caps, 3 timed a day.

Hello everyone.
I tried turmeric powder by mixing 15 grams with milk and drank it. I experienced severe brain fog with turmeric. I havent tried pure curcumin.
I will try it in the future and report. I experience brain with b vitamins, niacin and many other medications. I searched in google about brain fog and turmeric and i found a person complaining about brain fog with turmeric. I am very unlucky. I also experienced brain fog with repeated frequent administration of high doses of testosterone. I get relef of brain fog if i apply small amount of testosterone gel once in 2 days.

Hi Bulbo,

Don't waste your time with turmeric powder, you cannot get a theraputic dose by this method. You must find a company that does a GOOD extraction method to get a high concentration of curcumin from the turmeric. It's just not possible by ingesting turmeric root powder!

Hi,

Thank you very much Nightingale for this thread.

As I said before in this thread. I couldn't find the pure curcumin supplement in my country and it takes time to order any medical supplement from outside.

In the mean while I tried to use the tumeric powder in a way that boost the absorption of its curcumin ingredient.

Here is the method that I used: (copied from:http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/04/26/the-spice-that-actually-doubles-as-a-powerful-antiinflammatory.aspx)

"Another strategy you can use to increase absorption is to put one tablespoon of the curcumin powder into a quart of boiling water. It must be boiling when you add the powder, as it will not work as well if you put it in room temperature water and heat the water and curcumin together.

After boiling it for 10 minutes, you will have created a 12% solution and you can drink this once it has cooled down. The curcumin will gradually fall out of the solution over time and in about six hours it will be a 6% solution, so thereis best to drink the water within four hours. It does have a woody taste, but this is done more for therapeutic benefits than flavor"

I feel that effect is real. I had orgasm yesterday and the symptoms now are just about 20-30%.

I think once I get the pure curcumin I will try to find the dose that might eliminate symptoms completly .

I read a lot about this herb and it seems that it has magical anti-flammatory aspects that prevent or even correct the response to what is released in the body after ejaculation

I know that there should be more trials before we can say it helps but I really hope it will do for everyone.

Thanks,
Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,

That's an interesting link you posted. It seems it is the most powerful natural anti-inflammatory. Do you take before O or after or both? Please keep us updated with your trail.

I tried NSAID's a couple of times. It worked for a few hours then I felt hideous, so bad I would never touch them again. Horrific nightmares. They got serious side affects as well.

Many Thanks - FloppyB

Hi Floppy,

I think my procedure still immature and needs refinement unti I get the pure curcumin supplement.

What I'm doing so far,  I take melted teaspoon with water directly after orgasm, and anothet shot every 8 hrs. for 2-3 days.

My symptoms used to last 3-4 days without any supplements.

I will keep you updated with any new information.

All the best.
