My Urine pH showed up quite acidic the other day, which may mean I'm suffering from some kind of acidosis.

I've twice drunk a glass of bicarbonate of soda and it appears to have improved my symptoms.

Could someone please do the same and get back to me with results?

I know encouraging others to ingest stuff probably goes against policy but we're taking about a harmless antacid here.

You are on to something! I will start a special thread about acidosis and POIS.

poisperson, I discovered that the BSDM community has something similar to POIS called sub drop and antacids are one of their recommended remedies. As they are an older and more experienced community, there may be some wisdom to it. You may find this link interesting, especially the "tips for treatment" part: http://bdsmwiki.info/Drop

Bonebroth, I thought you might find this interesting as well as you mention stress/excess O in your thread - the BSDM community attribute their POIS to adrenaline and endorphin crashes. Interestingly, some Chinese POIS researchers were exploring this possibility if I recall correctly.

There is no way sub drop is related to POIS. Adrenalline crash is more a case of having too much pleasure than this pleasure goes away instantly so you start feeling unsatisfied. It is also accompanied by a lack of minerals which are easily replaceable unlike in POIS which apears even in healthy subjects.

Nevertheless, thanks for the link! Any information related to POIS might give a piece of the puzzle. Maybe POIS and BDSM could be related in the sense that sensual thoughts causes POIS symptoms on some members here, inlucing me. There are probably different processes going on here.

Are there any section of this forum that offers possibilities for individual members to try their own hypothesis by conducting their own surveys on all of the the POIS members? That would be cool.

Idk I've spoken to several POIS'ers and one doctor who feel that adrenaline is involved either as part of an immune response or to counteract high histamine levels. And you don't need to be low in minerals, whatever you mean by that, to get sub drop.

By the way, I just noticed you are the other guy besides me who had UARS and got notably better with treatment. I think I recall your surgery was unsuccessful but I wonder, did you ever get a PAP machine?

I'm mostly talking about sub drop being unrelated, the link it self mentiones that mineral in sufficiency causes this phenomena in that adrenaline, and probably norepinephrine and dopamine are not getting replenished.
I do how ever think that adrenal gland issues could be related in the immune response of POIS. Were there any tests in this forum about Catecholamines test?

Oh, ok. I think that's a typo on their part. You're talking about what is mentioned under the Fish Oil and B Vitamin remedy. Niacin is popular B vitamin around here as you know and it blocks the noradrenaline -> adrenaline conversion.
