At a loss as to the right treatment for me
« on: December 29, 2020, 04:37:58 PM »
I'm quite new to POIS. My symptoms are mainly:
  • Random occurrences of facial flushing;
  • Dry, scaly eczema on hands (only);
  • Bowel trouble;
  • Difficulty falling asleep;
  • Severe fatigue, tiredness, brain fog and headaches.
I have had numerous tests (Vitamin D, iron, adrenal glands, testosterone, cortisol, IBD) which all came back normal before I pieced together that my symptoms worsened during periods of frequent masturbation. I have only managed to abstain for up to a week at a time. I feel a bit better on days 1 and 2, but then my symptoms are up and down. I am trying to abstain for longer.

There appear to be many proposed treatments on here and I will try to work my way through them as best I can (already tried Niacin and anti-histamines with minimal effect). However, I would be grateful if anyone could give me a nudge forward - particularly whether anything about my symptoms rings a bell as to which particular treatment may help? Some sort of signposting would be helpful.

I am ideally looking for something which is also more long-term and aimed at repairing damage caused by POIS. I feel that POIS for me must be part of something wider, especially as I sometimes find I do not react well to certain foods, temperature changes, etc.

I would at least test for 11-beta-Prostaglandin F2alpha in 24h urine. MCAS could be your underlying condition.

Welcome to the forum, aegis !
In case you did not stumble upon it yet, you would surely like to see the POIS Types Chart:  https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2338.msg19448#msg19448

By looking through it, you may find what you are looking for.  Look at the symptoms described, you may find what reminds you of your own symptoms.
You are 100% responsible for what you do with anything I post on this forum and of any consequence it could have for you.  Forum rule: ""Do not use POISCenter as a substitute for, or to give, medical advice" Read the remaining part at http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=1.msg10259#msg10259

The easiest thing to try, also lowest-intervention so to speak, is garlic pills, right after dinner. That should also help with your difficulty falling asleep. Garlic (pills, not raw garlic, if you have bowel problems) has tremendously helped many members of this forum. The best resource to see a full list of methods is the link in Quantum's message.
