Treating Inflammation
« on: August 17, 2018, 06:50:50 AM »
So one of the things that define POIS is the inflammatory response we experience after orgasm. Some believe it is an allergic response but regardless there is a clear immunological response that define what we suffer from, in fact many of the remedies that POISers rely on are anti-inflammatory in nature, like Curcumin, Quericitine, Omega 3, Vitamin B's, Vitamine D, anti-oxidant, etc...

The thing is, there is an issue with defining what kind of inflammatory responses each POISer suffers from and the specific treatment that works for him. It seems like everyone takes something that helps him but another guy would say that it didn't work for him. For example the only remedy that I am 100% that it works for me is Dexamethason. Yet, Kingfisher told me that he was on Prednison for lung problems and that it did not effect his POIS, he even took 40mg shots, while I only take 1mg tablets.

Some people like Quantum believe that there are different types of POIS. But it is clear that all of us are united by symptoms occurring after orgasm and that the majority of us suffer from cognitive illness.

Thus, we really need to accurately define what kind of inflammation do we suffer from, and what is the exact remedy that directly inhibits this inflammatory response. For example NSAID are usually almost non-effective of many POISer's including me ( with the exception of Indomethacin which I'm not sure about its effectiveness ). We shouldn't just stop there, we need to realize the reason for its non-effectiveness. For example is this medication blocked in the BBB and thus it can't heal the brain? Is this treatment not suitable for our type of inflammation? If there are different types of POIS shouldn't we try to label the inflammatory response that we get and the treatment for this specific type of inflammation?

The largest parameter right now that is found to be abnormal in POIS'ers tests is low Neutrophile and white blood cells count, this could be an indication of an exhausted immune system, since POIS lasts for days or weeks ( what is the immune system attacking without success? ). And the only person who reported normal levels of white blood cells count also reported elevated levels of IL-8, who is Muon.

So we need to label why does our treatments work for us, and how does it heal our inflammation and thus perhaps look for what specific type and the region of such inflammation.

Edit: Moun tests do show a decrease in lymphocyte levels at 0.98 Ref: 1.10 - 1.50
Also his tests show that his Th1/Th2 levels are elevated which is almost a bullet proof that there in a general inflammation.

It's a matter of finding reliable biomarkers for POIS which is shared by most patients and form a theory around that. Once you know the mechanism in POIS then you could narrow down to certain groups of medicine. People need to check these abnormal parameters for themselves and report back.

I'm actually quite done theorizing in circles here on this forum, action needs to be taken otherwise we will see the same threads being created in 10 years from now and still being stuck in the same discussion without making any progress whatsoever. In your case you theorized that endothelial cells could play a role, perhaps due to inflammation or dysfunction so you could look for markers which support that theory. But in general we should focus on these steps as a community:

1) Checking yourself for parameters which are abnormal in other patients and report back even if it's a negative result.
2) If you don't test these make sure you test new parameters which haven't been tested yet by others and report back.
3) Keep trying out meds and report back if you got any result
4) Finding a doctor who is willing to perform research with the available funds

I think the first step is the most important one. Once you pinpoint a shared biomarker it could give us direction and potentially create a snowball effect of unfolding the mechanism behind POIS.

Yes, the most prominent biomarkers until now are white cells/neutrophils count below average. You also tested for IL-8 but no one else reported about this parameter up to my knowledge.
You should perhaps check for white cell count again while you are on POIS.
It's weird though even when inflammation is the prominent symptom doctors don't seem to notice it.

Yes, absolutely. No marker, no proof.

It's not that weird when they keep testing the same parameters over and over again, they don't venture outside their standard algorithms and don't compare data between patients (except for a few researchers but they often lack funding to do so). If your doctor isn't willing to test these parameters shown on this site than people have to google and search for labs in their vicinity which offers them and send those labs an email asking if it is possible to test these without your doctor's permission/request. It doesn't mean anything yet when a few individuals test positive for a few things. We need to crank those numbers up.

I hear you, but we lack the numbers unfortunately. Even those we know of lack the medical background to know what to test for.
Thus I advise you to look at your own body and see how to work out a theory. I don't think we will find many people who will participate in testing they don't even know how to test for. Maybe if we guide them we can increase the momentum ?

There are sufficient parameters present inside this thread which can be explored: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2684.0

I don't think we will find many people who will participate in testing they don't even know how to test for. Maybe if we guide them we can increase the momentum ?

When they can afford losing money they should:

1) Find labs using internet
2) Look in their lab catalog if they offer parameters from this thread http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2684.0
3) Send this lab an email to ask whether it is possible to test these via private funding, so without interference of doctors and/or insurance companies
4) If you need your doctor's permission then ask your doctor for one but go for the private patient option at a different lab when he refuses to hand one out or if it is too much trouble.

Does Indomethacin works for you to cure POIS symptoms or to prevent POIS?

I tried Celecoxib and Ibuprofen and they did nothing to me, only thing have worked so far is Mestinon (Pyridostigmine) to prevent POIS.

I'm not sure, but nothing until now I've tried actually stopped POIS. Dexamethason and Indomethacin only speed up the healing process.

Hi, just took it for one month about one year ago. I'm trying another things right now.

Will talk about what I'm doing soon to deal with POIS, I need to do more testing.
