How do I reduce symptoms?
« on: September 25, 2024, 09:07:07 AM »
My symptoms are 6 weeks long and I have no idea how to reduce the symptoms. They're only neurological like brain fog, irritability, slurred speech, trouble with speech, dulled emotions, loss of attention, slower processing, can't visualize in my head, can't socialize properly, mental fatigue, etc. The only physical symptoms I get are blurry vision for a few days on week 2.

Each week progressively worsens so week 1 is the lightest. Week 2 is worse than week 1, week 3 is worse than week 2, etc. The final week on week 6 is the worst of the worst but on that same week it spontaneously disappears. It feels like my body and mind is finally getting rid of a severe infection or illness.

If I get aroused with no orgasm then I'll get shorter duration symptoms but more acute / severe which last for only 1 week. Ie: symptoms are more condensed and severe but shorter timeframe. But if I do a full orgasm with full arousal it's the gradual, building up 6 weeks long pattern.

I've tried changing my diet and it hasn't done anything. It doesn't matter what I eat or not.

How do you reduce the symptoms from 6 weeks to only one week or a few days? Can someone please help me?

1.) Have you tried testosterone boosters? That have tribulus, fenugreek and so on in it?

2.) Have you tried l-theanine and NAC?

3.) Have you tried intermittent fasting and taking niacin with flush before you break your fast?

For me the mental symptoms also take longer than a week. But with time it improves for me. When I'm past the middle phase of POIS, or getting towards the ends, l-theanine helps me with fluency of speech.

I'm going to give you some meta-lessons rather than specific items. You will find specific items to test riddled all over this forum and the POIS subreddit.

1) Test everything. The trick to progress is just constant experimentation to see what works for your case. If there is 1 thing you take from this message, it's to EXPERIMENT CONSTANTLY.
2) Have a genuine open-mind or optimism that you can actually heal or make progress. I can't believe what my health is like today relative to 3-4 years ago or even 1 year ago.
3) Only test things that are safe. Don't touch antibiotics without clear awareness of what you are killing. Don't megadose nutrients without adequate knowledge and caution. Have common sense. There will always be some risk to testing, but ultimately you will mitigate most of that risk by being selective.
4) Don't make assumptions. Assumptions will kill your ability to progress before even starting. For example, don't assume because your D3 on your bloodwork is in range that higher doses won't help you. Don't assume that B vitamins won't help you even if your B12 and folate looks ok in bloods. Don't assume your POIS specialist knows everything about POIS. Don't assume that supplements are all a sham.

All the stuff that has helped me personally is listed here: https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=3964.0

The chances are if your POIS is not effected by diet, than we are from two different clusters and most likely the stuff in my thread won't help you. I would still give them a try just to be sure though. The meta lessons apply regardless. You need to pave your own way and find what works for your cluster. Maybe taurine works for you for example. Didn't for me.

I derived this list from the following lessons I've mentioned in this post. I've given you these tips because there are many different clusters and types of POIS that respond to different stuff. But regardless of the type of POIS you have, these lessons will work.

There are many methods found by the members that have been proven excellent to shorten symptoms duration and also severity.
Some of these are very easy and safe to try, like niacin, or antihistamines, and so on.   Look at the chart for details:

No single methods is good for everyone, so you will have some testing to do.
