Plasmalogens are critical for human health and have established roles in neuronal development, the immune response and as endogenous antioxidants. Plasmalogen was decreased significantly in human brain with AD, in which ethanolamine plasmalogen was the main component. The ethanolamine plasmalogen has good antioxidant activity owing to its vinyl ether double bond and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Plasmalogen level peak around age 40 - 60 years.
It is a nice and informative video, thanks! Supplementing plasmalogens could be indeed useful!
There is an emerging role for plasmalogens in chronic diseases as shown in the following study:
Chronic inflammation, neuroglial dysfunction, and plasmalogen deficiency as a new pathobiological hypothesis addressing the overlap between post-COVID-19 symptoms and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndromehttps://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0361923023001272There is also a nice thread on plasmalogens on the ME/CFS site:
https://forums.phoenixrising.me/threads/my-experience-on-plasmalogens.91113/Given these data I suspect that plasmalogens have a similar significance as vitamin D meaning that they both act kind of like strong barriers against the development of neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases. Unfortunately late restoration may not reverse an earlier damage or only partially, but may still prevent further deterioration as a preventive measure. Thus in my opinion plasmalogens should be a base component in any POIS stack besides vitamin D.
The problem with plasmalogen supplementation is that it is broken down by the body, before it could be useful. For this reason its precursors should be taken, which are called alkylglycerols. The prodrome products are supposed to be good sources of alkylglycerols, but as a cheaper alternative one may also buy shark liver oil, which should be a good source as well. Some other lesser sources are also mentioned in the previous study along with the problem of bioavailability.
Of note I have been taking krill oil fairy regularly recently, which may also contain a lesser amount of alkylglycerols. Unfortunately I couldn’t see a significant benefit as of yet, though I only take one capsule a day. At least it appears a little useful, but nothing major really. As a comparison the Astaxanthin+E vitamin product was better, though it may be similar to the other Astaxanthin product. I only mention this as krill oil is also a source of astaxanthin. I have just ordered some shark liver oil as well, and hope to see if it performs any better.
