How I Think POIS Will Be Healed & How I Am Healing
« on: August 25, 2022, 07:42:59 PM »
Hi,

I wanted to open this up with this is not a tried and true way of recovering but I do think I have found a way of thinking that can help many of us manage our symptoms or even cure ourselves of pois and or many other conditions we are dealing with. I am not a strong writer but I will try and present this information in the most engaging concise way possible.

I am a mid-20s Male and I have had pois for as long as I can remember. I did only realize what I was dealing with about 4-5 years ago. My symptoms include: Brain Fog, Fatigue, burning eyes, Insomnia, sweating, sweaty palms, congestion, scalp problems, frequent urination, inability to exercise, and many more.

I will first open up with my theory and way of thinking and the many issues that can be addressed to work your way towards having symptom relief and or curing yourself. I will then share my story and the stuff that I have dealt with and worked on along this way. Currently, I am at about %30 symptom relief regularly sometimes up to 80-90% depending on the symptom.  But I have a lot of work to do and I am confident that I will fully heal. I have waited about 8 months to share this theory due to not getting people over excited but 8 months in I do feel like this could be it and I think that the community should know.

So what I have dug into is a concept called functional medicine. It is a way of treating the body that works on the root cause. I believe that pois is an auto immune type condition that is caused by our bodys being exposed to environmental and internal problems. I do believe there is a process of which we can test for these things and address them. Below I will list most of the things that can drastically affect our immune system and I will also post books or resources you can research these things. Please note that there is a probability that you not only have one of these things but potentially multiple. I will also post them in an order of which I myself believe they should be addressed. I will post links to books podcasts or articles that have been shortened if they do not work please let me know. They will mostly be audio books because I am more of a listener).

Food Allergies and Sensitivity
Disbiosis (Candida, Sibo, IBD, H-Pylori) (https://rb.gy/f7bsfs) (https://rb.gy/qwrwed)
Mold Exposure (https://rb.gy/5svjv7)
Heavy Metal Exposure (Podcasts from the Doctors I list)
Limbic Disfunction (https://re-origin.com/)
Lyme/Bartonella/Babecea and other co infections(https://rb.gy/5svjv7)
Methalation (https://rb.gy/fik8y4)
Injuries to the body or brain
Other options aswell

So these are the main conditions that can mess up your immune system which in turn I believe plays into our pois symptoms.

Please listen to these books as they breakdown how these affect each person soooo well. I would be happy to answer any questions aswell.

I also listened to many many podcasts and will below list my favorite doctors I listen to. They have many many podcasts on all of these subjects

Dr Mark Hyman
Dr Evan Brand
Dr Michael Ruscio

For starting your journey on this I from what I have learned is I firmly believe in finding a good Functional Medicine Doctor, or Naturopath. Please find one that firmly believes in testing as this has been a huge part of my journey and getting better. I am not a doctor but here are the tests I believe in from all of the research I have done. I have also done most of these tests. I have not been tested for metals or tick-borne illnesses but I am working with mold and made much progress recently.

Disbyosis (Gi Map https://rb.gy/almnvy)
Dysbyosis and can point to other problems (OAT https://rb.gy/a25kjg)
Mold Exposure (Mytox https://rb.gy/n4t2ez)

I have not yet dug into the other testing because I am making progress on my current protocol

I do want to reiterate again please find a GOOD Naturopath or Func Med Dr and work with them. This process will take a year or more to heal most likely could be many years.

If you have made it this far here is my story:

I have had pois for as long as I can remember about 5 years ago I realized what it was and was depressed about it and figured out how to live with it. Last summer I realized my pois symptoms were getting worse and worse, what used to be 24 hours of symptoms turned longer and longer. I found that some would just linger and not go away. I do believe the covid vaccine may have had something to do with it. In September of last year I learned about the term ?Gut Health? I read ?Healthy Gut Healthy You? and learned about how the gut can affect the immune system. Right away I started cutting out foods seeing if any foods were creating inflammation in my body causing this exacerbation in pois symptoms. Nothing helped slowly I found I reacted to more and more foods. In December 2021 I caught covid for the first time. I was sick for about a week and it was very mild I could function the entire time. About 3 weeks after covid though I found my digestion went south and I couldn't eat anything without my body rejecting it I was also slowly starting to present with mild CFS-type symptoms that wouldn't go away. During this time I did a SIBO test (Which I would not recommend getting as it only shows 1/10th of the information we need). It came back positive which was incredible for me. We started treatment and from there my health took a downward spiral. I got super depressed I couldn't sleep I had terrible GI problems these were some of the reactions i had to the treatment I was taking. This went on for about a month until I switched naturopaths and came up with a new theory that my problem wasn't sibo but chronic candidiasis. This also can cause many immune like problems. Without testing, I began treatment for Candida and once again major major reactions. After about another 2 months my reactions were much less and many of my symptoms were significantly better. I still had major major fog and fatigue but I could not function as a human being.

I then did the GI map test and it came back with many things but we addressed the H-pylori which greatly improved my digestion. I could now eat without major bloating and burping (still some though) We then did more Candida treatment for another couple of months.

During this time and I did the oat and Mycotox profile. After about 7 months of treatment, I was feeling much better with much of the candida gone and h-pylori gone. My symptoms were about 65% of what they were at the start and my pois symptoms were at 50%.

The oat came back with candida, and some neural transmitter problems, but the Mytox came back with 2 very high mycotoxin exposures. This is when I moved out of my house and started taking binders. This was about 4 weeks ago and things have noticeably improved my energy attitude and fog have all improved.

At this point, I am about 1 year into this journey and 9 months into testing and treatment. I think I have another year until I am 100% but I do believe I will be healthier than ever.

From here in I think I need to detox the mold which will allow my digestive system to fully heal which will heal my body from mast cell problems (caused by mold gone over in the Toxic book.).

Lastly I have looked through all the current supplements and ways people have gotten relief and each and most relate to something that I posted about here. If you would like I can try and break down most of the treatments that have worked and how they relate back to these lists of possible causes.

Once again this is a THEORY but I believe in it very much and I have probably spent 3000 hours doing research. This is just the most concise way I felt I could share it all, there are many many other things so if I am wrong on something or you disagree feel free to comment or message me.

Yes, I am currently seeing a functional medicine guy and have high hopes of finding the root cause. Out of all the traditional doctors and specialists I've seen, they are all clueless and only offer to prescribe anti histamines or anti biotics. Functional medicine specialists seem to be a lot more open-minded and holistic. Obviously you need to use common sense and decide for yourself to follow any medical advice that may cause further harm, but thats with anything.

I am basically going to leave no stone unturned, attempting to heal my POIS from the roots. I've already had quite a few blood tests done and am awaiting our next appointment. I plan on getting tested for heavy metals, gut, antibodies, autoimmune, etc. I am also doing an elimination diet currently as we speak.

For my POIS, a gluten-free diet, raw minced garlic, and fenugreek seems to clear up my symptoms by 99%. B complex seems to give me optimal mental sharpness, I seemed to be deficient in B vitamins for a long term despite eating a very whole diet. Currently, I am only eating grass fed meat, organs, raw dairy, and fruit to see if thats helps my POIS (at the roots), especially as I see significant improvement in cutting gluten out. Any ideas / connections to all of this as it relates to the functional medicine paradigm?

Yes, I definitely think that this is connected to your gut. I would recommend reading the "Super Gut" book as the modality between the connection of autoimmune disease and your microbiome.

From what I have researched garlic is a strong anti-microbial and anti-fungal and I am pretty sure  fenugreek also has some antifungal uses aswell. This is used to basically clear out the bad bacteria and fungi in your intestines so the good ones can grow back in. When you have these problems you do not absorb vitamins properly either and that could be why the b-vitamins help.

I would recommend starting with the GI-Map test or Oat test that I recommended.

Honestly, I think that the best thing you can do as well is just dived into some of the books I recommended you may connect some dots in your health you didn't even know was possible.

Yes, I just made that connection only in the last week. I went on an animal-based diet for 5 days (meat, organs, fruit, honey, eggs and dairy) and it was so naturally effective at reducing my POIS I didn't need to take the fenugreek or garlic. There was still some fatigue and mugginess the following day, but it was resolved quickly through a meal or two. I've been reading up on the link between leaky gut and autoimmunity, and 99% that's what I have.

Awesome, I'll buy that book now! Just looked it up, and realized he's also the author of wheat belly, I've heard that's also a fantastic book. Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks for letting me know about those tests too. Will look into them.

It's all very interesting, I've learnt a tonne about health through this journey so for sure will check out those books! I've only recently kind of stumbled upon functional medicine, and I just get the feeling that if anyone is going to solve this POIS mystery, it's going to be through that kind of paradigm.

Cheers mate

That's great to hear! I completely agree. I think this is where pois will be solved. I am grateful for finding this realm. There is so many options and things to dive into to heal the body as a whole. Goodluck on your journey I am sure that you will be blown away with some of the stuff you read that will trickle into your life.
