Semen Volume Reduction Research
« on: January 07, 2020, 02:39:41 PM »
Hi guys, as a result of the discussion with Aminus?s Surgeries I have decided to focus my research in the area of Semen Volume Reduction (SVD).
The link to his surgery is here https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=3004.msg32660#msg32660

Guys please make sure to include links to the information you share on this post.

As my first post; here is an interesting study that found that Smoking reduced Seminal Semen Fluid Volume
 ? Current smoking is associated with lower seminal vesicles and ejaculate volume, despite higher testosterone levels, in male subjects of infertile couples.?  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25567620

WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS:
We report an apparent paradox in CS: lower SV volume despite higher testosterone levels. Our data suggest that smoking may negatively affect SV volume in an independent manner, as the difference between CS and non-smokers retained significance after adjusting for confounders including testosterone. This is the first study reporting such ultrasound evidence. How this new smoking-related alteration, along with low semen volume, impacts male fertility needs to be addressed by further studies.

There are a few things here of interest. First the main chemical ingredient in smoking nicotine. Nicotine is a drug that increases Parasympathetic reaction specifically nicotine receptors. 2nd Testosterone increase with smoking here and Testosterone is one of the main triggers for increasing semen volume so the researchers are surprised that even though it is increased the SV volume is reduced. 3rd they are measuring volume using ultrasound. That is interesting because it?s less expensive and invasive than MRI. Would be interesting to find out how accurate Ultrasound is versus MRI for measuring semen fluid volumes. One place to start may be to ask Fertility Researchers like the ones conducting this study. Professors rather than physicians. Or perhaps radiologist who specialize in fertility.

Parasympathetic system is the bodies ?brakes? compared to the sympathetic system which is the bodies ?gas pedal.? Many have theorized that we may have impaired autonomic system with parasympathetic overdrive. So smoking or taking nicotine in theory would increase that and fatigue you more. So be careful and try to make sure you have a physicians supervision when you test whatever you try.

*word of caution, please do not start smoking because of this or increase your current smoking. There are many chemicals in smoking and they all damage the lungs. If it is the nicotine then there are ways to try that using patches and other methods.

i look forward to seeing everyone research!

So far this is what I have:

Composition of Semen
Semen is a substance produced by the male reproductive organs. It is composed of spermatozoa (sperm) in a semi-viscous fluid. Structures within the male reproductive tract that are involved in the production of semen include:
* Testes and epididymis
* Prostate
* Seminal vesicles
* Bulbourethral gland
Semen is produced as a combination of secretions from the different regions of the male reproductive tract. Each fraction differs in chemical composition and function. The combination of these fractions during ejaculation results in the optimal environment for transporting sperm to the endocervical mucus in the female.
* Spermatozoa are produced in the testes. They mature in the epididymis. The testes also produce testosterone and inhibin.
* Fluid from the seminal vesicles accounts for approximately 70% of semen volume. The seminal vesicles are the source of fructose in semen. Fructose is used by the spermatozoa as an energy source.
* The prostate gland supplies about 20% of the volume of semen. Its fluids include acid phosphatase and proteolytic enzymes that lead to coagulation and subsequent liquefaction of semen. The prostate also contains most of the IgA found in semen.
* The bulbourethral gland produces mucoproteins that make up about 5% of the volume of semen.

Testicles-Produces Sperm, Testosterone and Inhibin
Epididymitis-Sperm Matures here
Seminal Vesicles-Fructose (energy for sperm)
Prostate-acid phosphatase and proteolytic enzymes (lead to coagulation and subsequent liquefaction of semen)
Bulbourethral gland/Cowper's Gland-Mucoprotein, high content of  Immunoglobulin A and epithelial-derived glycoprotein

So far I have emailed about a dozen Reproductive Endocrinologist and Andrologist to see if they would help with this project. I received 4 responses but mainly they redirected me to other professionals. I have added to my research but I will hold off on posting every little update. If you guys find any info feel free to post

Disaster, sharing some studies regarding an alpha blocker called Silodosin. It's prescribed in urological clinics for BPH treatment and it seems to have a sizeable impact on semen volume when compared to other alpha blockers.

https://www.nature.com/articles/ijir200927

"All participants on silodosin had a complete lack of seminal emission and expulsion. All participants felt orgasm in spite of a complete lack of seminal emission.
Orgasm is preserved regardless of the loss of seminal emission with silodosin administration. Although most participants reported mild discomfort during orgasm, they were greatly dissatisfied with the loss of seminal emission. "

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/51907138_Silodosin_and_its_potential_for_treating_premature_ejaculation_A_preliminary_report

".. compared with other alpha1-adrenoceptor antagonists, silodosin appeared to suppress ejaculation in a relatively higher percent of trial participants. This suppression of ejaculation by silodosin suggested its potential for treating premature ejaculation. Two (25%), three (37.5%) and seven patients (87.5%) experienced anejaculation, reduced semen volume and discomfort during orgasm, respectively. However, these problems were not of major concern for the participants. No systemic adverse effects were reported. "

Quite some years ago, a few folks in this forum had discussed Silodosin for dry orgasms. I think at least couple of them tried it:

Hi Disaster,
It's great to see you start on this research, and topic!!  I'd like to help you in this as much as I can.  I like your angle on it, it makes sense.
Your findings are interesting!!
First of all, that's a great idea to measure semen volume... with the ultrasound. That's pre-ejaculation I suppose.   I'd be curious to know if all the semen is ejaculated during orgasm. I guess the other way would be simply to ejaculate into a test tube!..

You know, that would be an interesting study, in fact.
I could send everyone a test tube, and they can measure their own.
Then I think if we just had a short questionnaire, getting weight, height, some basic health stats. from everyone. You know?... we could start our own research in a way.
And start an excel chart with the data.   What do you think?  I think it would be the first study of it's kind.

Animus.

just to expand on that idea for Semen volume measuring...
the findings could surprise us, or could not.
But I hypothesize we can make some possible correlations.
In the very least, we would establish a baseline for everyone.
We may see patterns.
If we do this testing on a regular basis, actually, we may see a correlation between volume of semen and POIS intensity? who knows.

Also, the official study so far has eliminated so many people, including me from participating... this might be a way for Everyone who is willing to Participate!
It will take some organizing and work.
But what I see us doing basically... is:
Collecting some basic info from each participant.
name (could be screen name)
age, height, weight
how long did you have POIS.

I would mail everyone brand new graduated test tubes.
I will start a database, and a direct email where people can send their data.

Date of ejaculation.
Volume of semen. (send a photo?)
Severity (1-10) and duration (Days)  of POIS after that ejaculation.

It will be important to keep people's records private, but also allow them to do multiple times.  So each participant is not anonymous, but identified as their POIS changes.   Because often times... the best data actually collects the same data again and again over time. Sometimes Variations are revealing.

I think our community might actually take part in it. We already are so focused on this. and many of us sort of informally track that stuff anyway.

Counter point:

I know that Maca helps me for general well being against POIS. Also for Progecitor.
(Some people want wrote they want to avoid taking it because it increases libido).
Maca can increase semen volume.

I've also read about somerthing called Pygeum which can increase pre-cum amount.

This is a POIS study posted in the forum about the Alpha Blocker than inhibits semen production and ejaculation

Also with my health it has been one problem after another so I have not been able to give this or other research my full attention.

But I am also leaning to research that has to do with Pelvic Blood Flow. I believe it goes hand and hand with this mechanism for our illness
