Every early December a calendar reminder pops up on my phone reminding me its time to review the current years goals and make new goals for the upcoming year. The notes section on my phone has a folder with to-do lists, random thoughts of things I don’t want to forget, and lists of goals from previous years back to 2014, ever since I started tracking them. Sometimes when I’m bored or have a moment I review those old ambitions and have a good chuckle of what used to be important, or smile at accomplishments I still feel proud of. However, no matter what year I click on to reminisces about one goal always lingers unfinished and brings up feelings of disappointment.

In late 2018 I discovered that my cause of POIS is very likely due to a newly accepted condition among functional medicine called leaky gut or intestinal permeability. Still widely unexcepted among western medicine I’ve sought help from outside medical care from what I’d previously call unconventional sources such as functional Drs (integrating prescription medications with diet, and ‘natural stress reducers’ (that are not sex :))  This new avenue has lead to real progress, and I can now pin point specific sub goals within POIS that can be targeted. This years goals will look something like - eat foods my body can tolerate and heal from, explore more about leaky gut, learn something new from someone else’s POIS cause or cure, and help support POIS research.

Do you have plans for 2020?

Because the hope is that some day or perhaps some year I/we can look back at our notes and goals, and smile and be proud of, instead of disappointed about, seeing POIS as something that I/we accomplished.

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

Would be amazing for research to uncover something like a root cause or universal treatment!

Living one more decade seems like a low ball goal. 2 to 3 more decades minimum is a better one!

Graduating is just as hard as finding a girl or a job! You have what it takes!

Good luck with the job and next phase of your life, and congrats on graduating!

2020: get rid of the amalgama in my mouth and do endodontic treatment for the cavitations I have. I am working on the hypothesis that POIS may come from toxins (heavy metals or biotoxins) in my mouth. I want to sort that out in 2020.

Interesting... Where can you have a root canal done?  Do you have a particular practice in mind?

Limejuice, no, don't worry, I am not a doctor promoting a clinic. I am sharing an idea and what I am working on. I've read stuff and have some basis on which I am investigating it. I am spending my money investing this hypothesis and am not asking you to spend yours. You don't have to agree and it may or may not make sense to you, but let's respect creativity of thinking and ideas here in the forum, hoping that some out-of-the-box idea that may or may not sound stupid or bizarre may one day give us a clue of where POIS comes from.
