POIS, infatuation and dating
« on: December 15, 2019, 12:34:48 PM »
Hi guys,

I am back to share some interesting discovery about myself. As some of you know, I've got my POIS under control with a prepack combo (inspired by Quantum's work)
5HTP, Quercetin, Curcumin, NAC, and Celebrex.

so a large part of my POIS is serotonin-related.

I am taking daily Vitamin D, Methylfolate, Fish oil for other non-POIS reasons.

Recently, I am back to the dating scene, after my previous 12-year LTR ended 2 years ago, I found myself easily infatuated when I establish a strong connection with my date, i.e. becoming obsessed with the ideal image that I created in my head. which is not healthy or conducive to maintaining strong attraction.

It dawned on me that such infatuation is not too different from other kind of obsession, and so could be driven by low serotonin in the brain. I took the regular dose of 5HTP for a few days, and found infatuation is largely under control (I can easily snap out of it, and move on).

5HTP is not for everyone (long-term side effects, and dangerous with MOAI/SSIR). But just an observation that some POIS guys may also have an infatuation issue in dating, which can be mitigated with a couple of 5HTP capsules.

Yes I have infatuation issues, which was very annoying with one relationship I had. It's definitely connected with OCD. Serotonin I think does play a huge role for me, but SSRI's never helped with the cognitive symptoms and social withdrawal. My POIS is largely dopamine related by I also have pure OCD ever since I had POIS. The connection of serotonin and POIS for me seems to be a weird one.
Do you have cognitive and social issues and does this stack help you with it?

Interesting observations and experimentation, Romies, thanks for sharing, it may be useful for other members with similar problems.

I am glad your custom pre-pack is still effective, btw !

My POIS symptoms are mostly dopamine-related (lack of energy, brain fog etc), only somewhat serotonin related (low mood from time to time after an orgasm).

But my POIS stack is nearly entirely serotonin focused. and so far it has been address the issue 100% (I can have multiple orgasms per week right now without any fear). Dopamine fix (stimulant/tyrosine) does not resolve my POIS issues.

Thanks Quantum! I am letting my INTP side running free here perhaps. :)

I think this is relevant, esp. people may have quite a bit of sex during dating and the serotonin low can manifest itself in interesting but destructive ways (as in infatuation).

5HTP, Quercetin, Curcumin, NAC, and Celebrex.

What are your current dosages and timing for your prepack Romies?

Did SSRI's help you?

I've never taken SSRI in my life, so I don't know.

5-HTP alone for POIS improves my mood, but does little to other cognitive functions (brain fog, tiredness), but the full stack prepack does.

I did have a short bout of depression before, but was treated with SNRI not SSRI, and SNRI worked for me within a week.

5HTP, Quercetin, Curcumin, NAC, and Celebrex.

What are your current dosages and timing for your prepack Romies?

5HTP 100mg 12hr-timed-release
Quercetin 800mg (w/ 165mg Bromelain)
Curcumin 2000mg (w/ 10mg BioPerine)
NAC 1000mg
Celebrex 200mg

I sometimes add a 2nd dose of NAC on the morning after to prevent sore throat from developing.

Yeah, unfortunately I've tried the other stuff before and it doesn't work for me. Celebrex and Quercetin is stuff I took long time ago with little success.
It's so sad, nothing works for me.

If 5-HTP only helps your mood, Quercetin, Curcumin and Celebrex help your inflammation. Then I suspect NAC is what helps your cognitive symptoms.
Do you actually have the cognitive symptoms we suffer from like bad concentration, memory and social withdrawal?

Sorry to hear that. I had to take most of them (except for NAC) ahead of time (15 mins at least) for it to work well.

Quercetin, Curcumin, Celebrex help to prevent kynurenine pathway from being up-regulated/activated.

5-HTP, Quercetin, Curcumin, Celebrex stack is sufficient for me to avoid concentration/memory/social withdrawal issues.

NAC helps me on the flu-like symptoms mostly.

Usually at least 30mins before an O (if my stomach is not very full). It can be still effective when taken 3-4 hrs before an O.

Have you tested them individually?

And what do you do when you have a Night Ejaculation?
You take the pre-pack as soon a possible?

Yes.  except for NAC (which greatly reduces the flu-like symptoms), I need to take all other 4 together to make the cognitive issues go away. If I skipped even 1 of the 4, I would get 75-80% of the old symptoms.

Yeah. but then the pre-pack is only 50-60% effective, as in I get 40-50% of the old symptoms after an NE.

With the pre-pack, I can comfortably have as many Os as I want (as frequent as 5 times a week once in the past 12 months), such that night ejaculation no longer occurs (i.e. at least one O per 10 days).

Demn, well each of these didn't even benefit 10%.
I would KILL to have an orgasm even once a week!
