Neck pain, is it a clue?
« on: October 21, 2019, 12:40:23 PM »
About 12 hours after O I get very stiff muscles in the back of my neck and upper back. I'm just wondering if you guys get something similar and what that might say about potential causes of POIS.

Yes, I have the same. Trapezius, neck, but also the back of my head and around my ears, get very stiff, in fact I think this stiffness could be the cause of the migraine I'm getting in the back of my head. I always experience this stiffness but after O (with some delay) the problems get much and much worse.
Male, INTJ. POIS symptoms: red eyes, ear-pain, anxiety, speech problems, pale/ugly skin, stiff neck, double chin, tinnitus, light sensitivity. POIS even after stimulation without O.

I've noticed my neck pain comes tends to wax and wane. With these flare ups come cognitive symptoms like brain fog, anxiety, and fatigue. Stress can be a trigger for a flare up. Perhaps cortisol is related?

yeah severe muscle weakness with delayed reflex response.

Worst is my back where i cannot sit upright or walk fully upright without being in some sort of nerve pain

don't need orgasm for this .. just erection is enough

I also have this neck stiffness/pain and infact am spraining my neck often these days due to being in POIS most days.
33 years old, POIS for around 12 years with increasing severity.
Major symptoms - Severe fatigue, back pain, unrefreshed even after 9+ hours sleep, pain behind eyes, very dry face, bald head with inflamed scalp, digestion issues and constipation. Very low testosterone and high glucose in blood tests

I also sometimes get sinus pressure with a flare up of cognitive problems and neck ache. I suspect these are physical manifestations of anxiety and/or stress brought on by POIS. So perhaps not a clue to a cause but just another symptom of a symptom.

I have the exact same thing happening during my pois, the sinus pain and neck stiffness / crunchy cervical neck joints, and red eyes all seem to flare up together

Yes! My neck sounds like a bag of gravel during pois. Very interesting you have the same.

I used to have these same symptoms. Lymphatic fluid buildup? Get a chiropractor to work on your neck (adjustments, deep tissue massage, etc...)

I get that after O, super stiff neck, back of head, and a sort of fuzzy feeling. I also become really prone to migraines. Weirdly, if I sleep in or doze, the fuzzy feeling gets worse, and I'm more likely to get migraines.

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

My thought is that it could it be related to general neuropathy due to activated viruses that were once dormant, where they are currently stationed, and the orgasm triggered the cascade described by nanna1, thus your histamines / mast cells are now on overdrive, attacking anything they find.

The Medical Medium theory on all autoimmune diseases (CFS, Febrio, Lyme, etc) are that dormant viruses in the Herpes family are responsible, latched onto nerve cells, and that the pain experienced is when your body's antibodies notice and rapidly fight the viral infection (inflaming and damaging nerves in the process).

Kind of a dumb question as most people are infected with no symptoms, but has anyone tested positive for Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) and / or any strains of the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV1, HSV2, etc)?

These viruses in particular are noted for hiding dormant in nerve cells, particularly the brain stem.

Very stiff shoulder and upper back muscles are my first symptom of POIS if I don't take anything before orgasm like Niacin or anti-histamines. They are tense to a painful level.

My back, neck muscles get tenser under stress easier when in POIS but in abstinence, they don't tense as much in stress and relax faster.

I just wanted to add. I get tense neck and upper trap muscles after O too. Not as painful and tense during abstain period. Massaging the upper back hurts and not the good hurt feeling.

I second this, I think viruses are responsible for a lot of cancers, autoimmune and degenerative disorders. The medical community need to come up with some solutions but sadly there's no money in curing viruses. Perhaps this Covid-19 situation will give them a kick up the backside.

Aching in the face and neck can be Herpes reactivation. If the OP wants to test this, you can try reactivating the virus by taking an L-Arginine supplement. The aching might then reappear within a day as the virus travels along the nerves in the neck.
