Gaba related to POIS?
« on: December 12, 2018, 12:33:44 PM »
Recently I tried Phenibut 700mg off a friend (a strong central nervous system depressant with anxiolytic and stimulant effects) it works on the GABA receptors. During the time I was on it I had the worst brain fog ever  and felt incredibly vulnerable even though I was with my best friend at the time. The brain fog was the same as my pois. I also tried ashwaganda another GABA supplement and with this had a more mild brain fog.

Then I saw simon66 amino acid test results on this forum which said NO GABA detected and was low in GABA precursors like Leucine, Glutamine, Valine, Serine which I found interesting. I know most of our neurotransmitters are not working properly but a lot of us have tried serotonin boosters with no success, some had success with choline supplements but could it be a GABA issue playing a part in the brain fog we get in POIS? Also do any of you have ideas on why I got such bad brain fog from GABA supplements?

I've tried GABA reuptake inhibitors. They are like SSRI's; SSRI's make you artificially happy and emotional, while GABA make you calmer and less anxious. In both cases they are artificial and you'd still feel deep down that you're still not 100% you and it doesn't really fix brain fog and speech problems.

I recommand taurine against pois.
I take 500mg before orgasm, +500mg of L-tyrosine.

I recommand to eat a lot of proteins and low carbohydrates to stimulate dopamine/noradrenaline release.

Gaba might be only a regulator.

Your results look just like my blood test results for amino acids among several other nutrients (vitamins, hormones, minerals, etc). I was low in the majority of tests. The reason I now know is because my intestines are not absorbing nutrients in food that it should because I have leaky gut.  I'm in the beginning stages of the process (long process) of fixing my intestines and already feel a substantial difference in energy levels, focus, and emotions (for example I just wrote this post in 2 minutes now, where before it'd take around 10 minutes).

Might be worth looking into leaky gut.

b_jim, very interesting.

How many years have you been testing taurine?
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business
