Hi there,

Okay, so the previous post mentioned this but perhaps nocturnal emissions (wet dreams) can be it's own thread to attract more of a response. Or have I missed a crucial thread?

It seems quite a few people have found at least partial success with pre-orgasm methods which is fantastic news.

Curious to know if, and to what degree, has anyone had success treating POIS only after orgasm and if so, what helped you?

Would really appreciate ANY feedback from anyone! There's already a thread on the treatments of POIS but can't seem to find threads that focus on post-orgasm methods...

This forum and its members are an amazing help.

Needless to say that it gets better as we age, NE happens less often.  I am 52 years old, so if I have no release, I usually know that I can be around 2 to 3 weeks "in peace", after my latest E, but you never know, sometime it comes sooner than supposed to.  At any rate, my usual way is to go for a "conscious state" release before the time I think a NE will come, because then I can take my pre-pack before release, and avoid most of the symptoms.

Whenever I have a NE anyway, as soon as I become aware that I had one, I get out of bed, wash myself, change clothes, and take my pre-pack, before going back to sleep.  My pre-pack is more effective when taken before release, but it is still useful when taken afterward, in particular when taken in the 10 to 15 minutes following release.

Thanks Quantum - you're incredibly helpful here. A number of your posts have given me great insight, so thank you, really. Unfortunately I have a feeling my POIS falls more in the Vitamin B category, but I'll probably try your pre-pack anyway after experimenting with B's.

I have a feeling it's to do with the adrenaline or dopamine surge from release - the brain goes into shock and it lasts a few days. Can't imagine why else Niacin would work for many pre-'o' and not afterwards, it somehow neutralises the blow at that crucial moment.

Would like to point out to anyone else reading this - before I had come across any relief method at all to treat my severe POIS, one thing which I would say reduced my symptoms significantly (severe anxiety, concentration, brain fog, lack of motivation - which had basically ruined my life for years) was practicing 'mindfulness'. Some have mentioned meditation helps, which is great to see. The thing is, meditation is perceived as an activity (you allocate a set time to meditate) whereas mindfulness essentially serves the same 'no mind' function but is applied every moment, wherever you are.

While all the relief options may help you, the thing that made my life very liveable with severe 3-day POIS is mindfulness practice. The only issue is the fact that it doesn't come in the form of a pill, and while it's gaining strong momentum into the mainstream, it's not quite there yet. So people don't believe it will do anything for them... I'm here to tell you it does, and not only will it reduce your POIS significantly, but your entire life will change for the better. It won't remove your POIS, but your perspective on POIS will change dramatically to the point where it won't bother you much at all (as much as you think that is impossible right now).

Thanks for your good words, Michael !  I am glad my posts can be of help for other members.

I mentioned taking my pre-pack as soon as I am aware I have a NE, but of course, this can translate for you in taking your B vitamins as soon as you become aware that you had a NE.

I agree that taking whatever helps prevent the blow of POIS on the body and mind seems more effective if taken some time before release.  I am not sure yet that it is the same exact blow for every POISers, but I am sure that it is not originating in the brain and from orgasm, at least not for everybody, because some members will have symptoms of POIS from local cause like a prostate leak when passing a large stool, or other situation when no orgasm or sexual arousal is implied.  In some clear cases, like the one mentioned, and like in the case of an ejaculation without orgasm, it shows that POIS can happen even in the context of "no orgasm", so there is a type of POIS that has nothing to do with the frenzy of neurotransmitters in the brain during and after orgasm.  The jury is still out about the respective importance of neurological, immune and hormonal factors in POIS, and how their weighing vary from one specific case of POIS to another.


I am 100% with you on mindfulness positive effect.  I have already mentioned many times that meditation is part of the overall method I use in order to lower my POIS symptoms ( http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=2090.msg16604#msg16604 ).  And you are absolutely right when you say that meditation it is not only a dedicated time in the day, it has to become a way of being present to the world and to your own body and mind, throughout the whole day.

For those who are very scientifically minded, mindfulness/presence/meditative state means that you rearrange your brain frequencies mix so that, on average during your day, there are less high beta waves and less beta waves in general ( the little mouse in your head is not running like crazy), more alpha and even theta waves ( more calmness, more presence to what is in your immediate surrounding ), and more gamma ( more compassion and kindness for everyone and everything ), in your "regular" brainwaves mix.   


Michael, I suggest you could start a mindfulness thread on the forum, to give it more exposure, so that other POIS sufferers will hear about it :)

Thanks for your contributions and also to Quantum'a inputs.

I am with you also on the mindfulness, that is for a certain array of symptom reduction.

There is no doubt that being in the opposite state, where we are in a state of "dis-ease" in our bodies  and resultant fear which will make our symptoms seem and feel a lot worse for sure.

Many have physical POIS symptoms also, which mindfulness may not heal/help (as much as with mental, emotional and psychological symptoms), that's in the short term.

Mindfulness and meditative practices IMO offer a gradual impact, if practiced over time.

Am still however personally on the side of finding various ways (be it gut healing, supplements, Vagus nerve stimulation and others) toward reducing this "dis-ease" and bringing natural health back. Been on that journey a long time.

Like Quantum, am happily moving beyond the nightmare of NE's. One of the few plusses of getting older.

Will update in a few weeks any way on my own experiment of 9 months of VNS
stimulation.
