same thing over and over
« on: June 26, 2011, 09:46:05 PM »
I was just wondering do you guys think about the same thought over and over again in pois and out pois.
In pois i think about the same thing over and over but when last time i was feeling better( i knew i was better because of fatigue) i was still thinking the same thing over and over
it was very bothersome, no intrestesing ideas coming up just the same thing over and ove
i was just wondering if that is normal, i am rarely out of pois to know the difference.

I think I also have this. When I have this thing, it is unbearable.

It is like you say, and I can't escape from it. I think at a thing without being able to stop myself. Only that in my case more ideas start to come about that thing, as if my imagination is overloaded, without being able to stop.
Also it also happened that I "hear" or sing a song in my mind and the same song never stops, it is similar to the first.
Sometimes if I lie down in my bed, for some period, this things start to dissapear.
I feel that my mind is stretched up and beyond to its limit.

I am also thinking that it is abnormal, I never had such things until I started to have POIS. I wonder if it has a name.

I have cognitive, psychological and physical symptoms.
I am apologizing for my English if it is unclear.

I totally have the same thing.  I'll get excited about some idea and I positively can't move on.  Bore my wife to tears talking about the same thing over and over.  The difference I notice in/out of POIS (which I'm usually in) is that when I'm in POIS I"m more hostile or irritated by new ideas.  When out of POIS, I think new ideas are fine and judge them based on their merits.  Kind of along the same lines that it's difficult for me to think differently when in POIS.  Interesting...

Very interesting observations.  I tend to get into a downward depressive spiral.

i can associate with the song thing, i go to sleep and wake up with the same song in my head that has being in a loop in my head from the previous day.

more in depth;  i dont get obsessed about one thing, i will generally have about 5 thoughts in my head and all i think about are those thoughts all day rarely anything new comes unless i watch tv or read something. When i am thinking of those thoughts very little new idea comes in i just summarize over and over in my head.   And when i do get something from tv it is not like i think about the topic in all sorts of ways, i just run a summary of what i saw in my over and over.
this scares me because, i saw a documentary on alzheimers and the sufferer said they can go a day without any thought in their head, if i didnt the have the loop i am pretty close to what they are experiencing thought wise.

Yup I get this. It feels the same as when you're reading a page in a book and after you finish the page you realize you've absorbed nothing on that page and you have to read it over again. Except instead of a page in a book it's a stream of thought in your mind.

I guess when in POIS, if my boss asks me to do something differently I'm really critical and think that the request is stupid or not thought out.  When out of POIS I'm a lot more understanding.  Makes me feel bad for my boss having to put up with me.

Do you guys notice that time passes faster when in POIS?  When in POIS it's not a big deal for me to let something go for a few days or few weeks, but I notice that other people aren't like that.  They have more of a sense of urgency.

Yes. I believe this is due to decreased metabolic activity in the brain similar to how that occurs in concussions. The decreased metabolic activity can cause less thought activity and less thoughts means gaps in your awareness of spaces of time. I was watching the movie Inception and it actually reminded me of this phenomenon because in the movie while they are in a dream time passes much more slowly than in reality because in a dream your mind is working at a much faster rate which in effect expands the "time" available to process the dream data.

A lot of times while in POIS I'll find myself sitting staring at my computer screen having forgotten what I was about to do then realize I haven't had a single thought in my mind in the past few moments. This process repeated over a day makes the day seem to pass much faster and makes it more difficult for me to sort of speak grasp and hold on to a project in progress be it a homework assignment or some other task.

cornelius, it sounds like to me that you were just frustrated because you realized that POIS prevented you from having a fun night out. Have you told your girlfriend that you have POIS or some medical condition that makes you sensitive to things like loud noises and bright lights and crowds?

It sounds like you need to have a serious talk with her about it. Perhaps if you talked using some sort of instant messaging like on AIM or on skype or facebook chat it may be easier for you to get your points across since you'll have time to think about what you want to type before you send it to her.

Would that have something to do with the SSRI you were taking? Or coming off it or something?

Where were you in your POIS cycle?

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

Cornelius, in POIS I'm also easily irritated, and experience unrealistic anxiety.  And have had outbursts like you. As out-of-pois I'm not like that at all, I KNOW this is 100% POIS. Just a bit difficult to explain to girls /friends. Hang on mate!
