I don't know what the impetus of possible immunological causes of POIS despite the numerous hypothesis. The new hypothesis gets away from that idea, yet I still have a nagging suspicion that our immune systems are over active like almost ever other system seems to be in us. But where is the evidence regardless of the symptoms? No one really knows... Finding that impetus/cause or whatever that sets the chain of events that is POIS may be like a needle in a haystack regardless of treatments that may be effective.
I do know that I never get sick. Only twice in the last ten yrs, with one fever. I am 28yrs old, and have constant POIS symptoms, yet am never "normal" sick. When I was a child and did not have POIS I was sick all the time, with fevers and whatever else; like sinus/ear infections. After age 12 I got sick less and less, to the pt where it has been 7yrs. I have had hypothermia in that time frame: nothing, no illness. Also, extreme POIS symptoms and they are the only source of illness. In fact I can wk for 12hrs without eating, go home and sleep 6 and wake up, eat two meals early and do it all over; never sick. When I have abstained for a month like now. I function so highly, I do not know what to do with my energy. I have wkd 70hrs this wk and lift weight weights then sleep little. As soon as I have a POIS reaction, that all changes drastically. It seems like a state of mania, but is not, because I have been in mania and mania for me is a whole new level of weird where I move so much, I am walking miles per day and not eating at all for days on end. My immune system must have changed to some extent from this POIS abuse.
How can there not be an immunological link to POIS even if it is not the impetus...?
Does anyone else experience this drastic change in activity upon abstaining with POIS? Or do you never, never get sick?
