Niacin: How To

Can someone please give me the basics of how to take Niacin successfully to resolve POIS symptoms?  There is a lot of information out there and I just want to know what brand is the most reliable, and how to do it properly.  Should you take it before or after orgasm?  Does it make your skin red?

I'm a 23 year old who is suffering with symptoms that make my work weeks unbearable.  If I abstain from orgasm then after about 3 weeks I feel fine, but until then I have POIS symptoms (brain fog and anxiety mostly).  My job requires a lot of social interaction and it requires a lot of mental clarity which I don't have after orgasm.  I've started seeing a girl and ever since I started having sex with her all of my POIS symptoms have returned.  It is like I have to choose between the girl or a happy POIS-free life.  This sucks. 

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.  I'm feeling pretty down.  Thanks.

Hi RM7,

I sorry to hear your situation. However, it comes across similar to many other posts I have read on this forum and can relate to it myself. There are lots of different remedies out and I was lucky enough to find one that worked for me. Daveman on this forum has extensive experience of using Niacin which he has posted in this forum in lots of places so you may want to search his posts.

I hope you can something that helps your POIS here.

Welcome Random Man. We all feel your pain here. Here are some tips that may help you, although some easy searching can give you a wide range of tips.

I currently use Solgar Niacin 250mg, you can get this off Amazon or iHerb, whichever is cheaper and convenient for you. I take it an hour or so before I plan to have sex or masturbate, and usually I would get a flush for 30 minutes -- red skin and intense itchiness; I recommend hydrating your skin with oils or just cream to prevent any cracking, if you subconsciously start scratching during the flush.

If possible, and I mean... I highly highly suggest. Do not orgasm. Have sex until the peak, and then stop. It isn't worth it in the long run. Just finish your partner off... only because Niacin does not (for me at least) prevent all symptoms.

Thank you both.  I'm about to meet up with this girl I"m seeing and I"m going to try and have sex without orgasm and see if that makes me feel better (I feel like it will make my balls hurt a lot but it is probably worth the pain).  I'll also experience with 250 g of niacin at some point in the future, but I won't today because I don't want symptoms next week.

It's tough and frustrating, sex without orgasm. It's the only way I know that'll avoid me the worst of my symptoms. I guess a girl that's really into the orgasm denial thing would love to date a POISer. But for the POISer himself, it can be very, very uncomfortable. It's like a mixture of sadness & frustration. Let's hope for a 2014 cure so when can have our orgasms back.
