I tend to agree with the original poster. After almost 30 years of POIS, my assumption is that something goes seriously wrong during the process of spermatogenesis. Due to some inherent or acquired sensitivity the adrenal system seems to become overtaxed, short-circuited & excessively fatigued, which might in turn affect dopamine / serotonin and general hormonal levels resulting to the well known flu-like symptoms (cognitive impairment, muscle pains, weariness, migraines etc).

I have no medical background but this is my hunch on the matter...and of course I can't dismiss that at least some of us might also suffer from autoimmune reaction to semen. Other possible causes I've been considering in the past (far before discovering nakedscientists or this forum) include spinal injury / brain damage at centers which influence spermatogenesis, excessive masturbation at a younger age (adrenal fatigue), or a possible range of illnesses that might trigger POIS as a side affect when a combination of conditions is satisfied. I really hope that NORD research will finally shed some light.

I was considered a child prodigy as a youngster and this POIS-demise has systematically undermined my entire career, social & sexual life for years and years, condemning me to live between lethargy and mediocrity instead. I dread to imagine the vast difference that it would make to have been POIS free all this time.

There is a medicinal plant called Mangosteen which may reduce PGE2 and histamine
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12230104

By coincidence I stumbled over this fruit and checked the forum here and this is the only hit.
I've ordered the extract now, it sounds promisting as a pre-pack?

Yes, mangosteen is known for fixing stommach issues. I think there still is an autoimmun component in POIS, but its not related to sperm, its' related to hormones and the intestines in this way:

1. When the intestines leak undigested substanced and proteins, the immune system react to this and destroys the bodies own cells, including the hormonproducing- and hormone wast-processing organ (the liver).
2. On orgasm, your ability to break down the inflammatory hormonal by-products are compromised so they stays in the blood system and have more bad effects on the organs, skin, brain etcetera in a vicious circle.

So there's two autoimmunity processes at the same time; the first is the most easy to fix - the gut problems. reduce stress and get on a SIBO-protocol, totally stop eating gluten and any grains and do anything that is good for the stommach. Mangosteen juice is maybe a miracle product, who knows. Combine this with strategies to reduce inflammation (POIS-protocol) and hormonal improvement, and restrain from orgasm for a while.
