It induces autism like symptoms due to the difficulty POIS sufferers can connect socially with others during POIS. However I would say it's impaired function rather than autism.

Hard to say what is "autism-like". As one of the symptoms is anxiety, I am extremely afraid of big changes. As one of the symptoms is depression, I'm not the most social person when under POIS. If this is what you understand by autism: yes

Yes POIS can cause a spiral of autism where you pull off the most bizarre behaviour. Pois autism is  way less when you abstain for 2 or 3 months. My biggest problem is impulsive buying, over eating, drug cravings, suicidal thoughts, porn...even tho i didn't do these things for months just having POIS can trigger impulsiveness and performing these acts

What is worse is the restlessness during pois...to the point where you can't do anything. Unable to read, sit still sometimes coupled with crippling anxiety

This "autism" which takes up to 2 or sometimes 3 weeks to fully dissappear ruins my social life.

My antisocial behavior is a deliberate strategy to avoid conversations. If I were able to hold conversations but have other pois symptoms, I won't have to behave like an autistic.

Here is a really good independent research site reviewing all the latest science and treatments on autism. The website owner has come up with polly pills - combinations of different drugs and supplements to treat his sons autism and he has been successful with it. Maybe some of the treatments could help us

I may have Aspergers in general but POIS makes ASD like things more pronounced.
