Application of NADH
« on: July 12, 2017, 12:34:34 AM »
Hello ,everyone!
I'm new to this forum. So I would like to ask about NADH. Maybe someone has experience of using NADH. Tell me, how do you use it?
Thanks,Rinat)

My current daily supplement routine.
upon wake-up: Now-brand NADH 10mg (rocket fuel indeed). no eating for 25-30 mins.

I respond to Methyl-folate and NADH quite well (I am an A1298C homozygote). But they only solve 40-50% of my POIS symptoms, not as reliable as curcumin/quercetin/celebrex combo.

Since I am running out of BH4 now, I am going back to NADH, which is a lot cheaper. NADH requires empty stomach, which is a major inconvenience.
(I don't agree with that, NADH sublingual works too apparantly)

I'm still taking NADH which will help recycle BH4.

Just to explain a question I got about this. Metionine, b6 and b12 are used to help create SAM-e and to enable it to breakdown the byproducts of the conversion of niacinamide to NADH. Taking NADH bypasses that problem but it costs a lot more.

After not taking NADH for 4 days now, I feel MUCH better.  I had been taking methionine 2x a week during that time.  I am going to enjoy a week or two of positive mood before I jeapordize it with anything else, but when I'm ready I have methionine and could easily find SAMe.

What else are you taking? NADH may have interactions with any drugs that effect the synthesis or reuptake of catecholamines as it increases Tyrosine Hydroxylase.  It might just be a supplement but it has powerful affects on the levels of tyrosine hydroxylase which means that tyrosine is converted more efficiently and faster to dopamine when supplementing NADH.

Anyway, if there's something to this theory then increasing methylation and mitochondrial energy production will improve the overall health (immune and energy levels) of the sufferer. Hence NADH & D-Ribose seem ideal. I'm back taking them as I couldn't wait for the anti-fungals to be finished.  It's like rocket fuel after a few days. You don't notice it the first day or so but the energy affect seems cumulative. There's probably enough methionine in my diet and also glutamic acid from my whey protein so it's possible that this gives a bigger energy boost as the ATP created by NADH and D-Ribose can help create SAM-e, glutathione and other helpful substances in my body.
D-Ribose Thread https://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=3390

Took both for a while. Also used pterostilbene, and a NAD+ booster.

NADH gave some energy, and solved some problems, but didn't feel like it was a permanent solution.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide replenishment rescues colon degeneration in aged mice
https://www.nature.com/articles/sigtrans201717
"Notably, this colonic degeneration was accompanied with reduced key NAD+-generating enzyme expression and lowered NAD+/NADH ratio in aged colon. Three-month continuous administration of beta nicotinamide mononucleotide, a NAD+ precursor, elevated colonic NAD+ level and improved defecation in aged mice. "
beta nicotinamide mononucleotide = NMN.
For humans, it might(!) work to take NADH sublingual or Nicotinamide riboside (NR).
Niacin = nicotinic acid

However, herpes viruses deplete NAD+ and NADH levels (RefGS, RefVR). If a virus is causing your POIS, low NADH levels in infected cells could prevent glutathione from working/recycling. A virus IgG test would help you know better what is going on. This is what I know about glutathione. Hopefully, others can contribute their knowledge.

Does Oral Coenzyme Q10 Plus NADH Supplementation Improve Fatigue and Biochemical Parameters in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4346380/
"A significant improvement of fatigue showing a reduction in fatigue impact scale total score (p<0.05) was reported in treated group versus placebo. In addition, a recovery of the biochemical parameters was also reported."

This website of a supplement containing NAD+ (as I understand a changed form of NADH, they convert into each other?) claims:
https://nadovim.com/nad-in-a-pill-challenges-bioavailability-and-formula/
"One particular component of inflammation that is associated with NAD+ depletion is a glycoprotein called CD38. Found on the surface of many immune cells, CD38 plays an important role in inflammation. CD38 causes migration of neutrophils and monocytes toward sites of inflammation, signals maturation of dendritic cells during inflammatory cytokine activation, and generates Ca2+mobilizing metabolites. To do this though, it must consume large amounts of NAD+."

Would this go into hand with:

Thanks to HopeOneDay and Nanna1, it had been noted that many POISers show neutropenia, a low count of neutrophils

I think NADH sublingual+Tyrosine+better hydration and electrolytes is what makes the intense fatigue and brain fog at 18:00 on day-after-orgasm verg manageable. But I need to check this a few times more still.

I still think NADH sublingual is awesome stuff.
