Can POIS be triggered by touching smegma?
« on: February 08, 2021, 02:17:12 AM »
Hello everybody

It seems that my POIS-symptoms (incoherent thinking, brainfog, irritated eyes and sore voice for 4-6 days) are triggered, when I touch under the foreskin with my fingers, especially if there is visible smegma (the white substance that may form if you don?t wash regularly) present. Have any of you ever experienced your symptoms manifesting after doing the same?

All the best
D

I should note that I am just as interested in hearing from people that can confirm that they do not experience their symptoms triggering, when they touch below the foreskin/the gland.

Hi danielmh. :)

My symptoms are not triggered by touching the foreskin or glans. Not to a noticeable degree at least. I have an inflammation and often have to apply an ointment.

Btw not sure if this is relevant to anyone, but I just got diagnosed with Zoon's Balanitis, a benign chronic inflammation of the glans and foreskin.

I also have balanitis. Often immediately after o, my glans and foreskin will have red inflammation which will last for 3-4 days.

I've tried many antifungal creams to no success. What helped (a bit) was washing my penis everyday, aloe vera gel and E45 cream. I think antiinflammatory topical creams and gels will work well.

(Danielmh, sorry for hijacking your thread a bit!)

Thanks for that Muon, I was having trouble finding some comprehensive info on Zoon's, so that's very helpful.

quikot, I've been to multiple urologists and dermatologists and they all say that in my case circumcision is probably the only curative treatment. I think it's partly because in addition to the inflammation, my foreskin happens to be very tight.

In my limited understanding, there is a correlation between tight foreskin and glans/foreskin inflammation. However I'm not clear on whether there is a causal relationship, and if so, which way it goes. Hopefully my urologist will be able to answer that next time I talk to him. He seems pretty resourceful.

If tight foreskin can cause inflammation (not the other way around), then I'm probably going to go with circumcision. My only worry is that since my inflammation seems to worsen during POIS episodes, the Zoon's won't completely go away and I'll have an inflamed glans with no foreskin to protect it.

Anyone have any thoughts or experiences around this? Any insight appreciated.
