POIS and NoFap/Semen Retention/old writings
« on: September 24, 2020, 01:25:45 PM »
Many on NoFap/Semen Retention/etc communities might got POIS not knowing so they think semen loss, pmo addiction or whatever is giving symptoms and might think all feel same way and they discovered superpowers but "superpowers" are POIS going away. I've been thinking if writings about bad onanism side-effects and sexual activity being bad for health, etc. could be made by POISers in past when no1 knew POIS is a thing so they thought they're punished for sin or sex is bad etc. when in reality they had disorder making them feel bad.

If searching up on NoFap pois symptoms u'll find many posts about post-orgasm brainfog, etc.

There might be many POISers not knowing they got it and thinking it's sexual activity itself that is bad and they abstain not knowing they can fix it. I too found POIS by NoFap as abstinence made me feel good and as I had o I noticed brainfog, all POIS symptoms, I might had it for years unknowingly as I recall odd symptoms I didn't know why as I never abstained till 2018 and at 2019 I had seen enough times how o always gives it and even then it took time to accept it's not how 1 must feel as 1st months of finding POIS I still thought it's natural.

I believe you are correct. I started having very severe reactions to orgasms back in 2006 and the reactions correlated with more intense porn use. However, correlations do not necessarily equate to causation.

It turns out that I have pretty severe general autoimmune issues, including some form of eosinophilia and/or Crohn's in the gastrointestinal system, autoimmune thyroiditis which flares up sometimes, and other issues.

For many years I assumed I was just addicted to porn and porn was causing the problem. Turns out, it's a disease so at least I don't have to feel guilty anymore.

My POIS symptoms include:

1. Extreme fatigue to the point where I can't get out of bed
2. Very severe back muscle pain to the point where I feel like I'm going to pass out of I stand up.
3. Severe gastrointestinal disturbances (ulcers, acid reflux, passing blood and undigested food in the stool, very severe pain in the stomach and colon)
4. Severe psychological problems (social anxiety, inability to make eye contact)
5. Loss of ability to properly pronounce certain syllables/letters when I speak (I sound like I'm slurring my words).
6.Memory loss that becomes severe if I eat the wrong foods.

These same symptoms are brought on by eating foods to which I am intolerant and eating these foods markedly worsens the POIS.

I eat an extremely bland diet now which helps:

1. Ground beef with only salt added
2. Soda
3. Chocolate skim milk (made from powder without vitamin fortification)
4. Plain potato chips fried in coconut oil

Additionally, I have found three substances that greatly help my POIS:

1. Sugar. Sugar eliminates much of the psychological and system symptoms. Large amounts of it. I'm talking in the hundreds of grams per day range. Check out Ray Peat's ideas on sugar. I believe sugar is superior to complex carbohydrates for a number of reasons. I'm specifically talking about white table sugar, soda, or fruit juice. I am not talking about cakes, candies, pastries, or ice cream because these contain many other toxic ingredients (polyunsaturated fat being the worst of them).

2. Caffeine. Caffeine seems to help with the neurochemistry and definitely elminates most of the fatigue.

3. Chocolate. Probably has similar benefits to caffeine since it contains small amounts of caffeine and theobromine.

The literature on this is sparse at this point. The most likely explanation is an autoimmune response from what I understand of it. It certainly would make sense in my case. I have autoimmune problems. Having a single autoimmune disease markedly increases your risk of developing other autoimmune diseases. However, there could be multiple causes that differ between people and I'm willing to bet everybody's POIS is slightly different based on genetics and environment.

The working hypothesis that I have seen is that the body produces antibodies against your own semen and releases them when you ejaculate. These antibodies probably cross-react with other proteins and molecules that results in the symptoms.

I read of one case where a man was completely cured of his POIS by them blocking semen. I can't remember if it was semen production or semen ejaculation, but basically the man still had erections and orgasms but they were dry orgasms. This completely cured him of his POIS.

But, it's a single case so who knows if this would work for all of us.

https://ggenereux.blog/my-ebooks/

Grant Genereux believes chronic vitamin A toxicity may be the cause behind all autoimmune (and other diseases).

As someone who has studied vitamin A extensively, I generally agree with him on many points (though not on every point).

You might do well to reduce your vitamin A intake if it's high.
