Does vitamin D deficiency contribute to erectile dysfunction?

Authors: Marc Sorenson and William B. Grant

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a multifactorial disease, and its causes can be neurogenic, psychogenic, hormonal and vascular. ED is often an important indicator of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and a powerful early marker for asymptomatic CVD. Erection is a vascular event, and ED is often a vascular disease caused by endothelial damage and subsequent inhibition of vasodilation. We show here that risk factors associated with a higher CVD risk also associate with a higher ED risk. Such factors include diabetes mellitus, hypertension, arterial calcification and Inflammation in the vascular endothelium. Vitamin D deficiency is one of several dynamics that associates with increased CVD risk, but to our knowledge, it has not been studied as a possible contributor to ED. Here we examine research linking ED and CVD and discuss how vitamin D influences CVD and its classic risk factors—factors that also associate to increased ED risk. We also summarize research indicating that vitamin D associates with reduced risk of several nonvascular contributing factors for ED. We conclude that VDD contributes to ED. This hypothesis should be tested through observational and intervention studies.

POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.

I have vitamin D deficiency. I don't have eretile dysfunction. But maybe vitamin D plays a role in POIS.

Yeah I think there's a correlation here. What'd be cool is if we were all able to get tested, to see if there's a pattern. I know for myself that sunshine helps a lot!

It's summer here in Chile, and my POIS, at least the muscle, back and joint symptoms are way reduced.

We had a slight weather system pass through just yesterday. I always feel the weather system a day or two before it's evident, sunny skies, hot weather and I start to feel the aches and pains. Sure enough, a weather system came the next day. Felt bad through the weather system, and as fast as it came, it went as the weather system passed through.

And I am getting lots of sun, but something in the weather systems screw me around.

We are inflamed and the soft tissues are subject to humidity and pressure changes.

It's funny, but some of the aches and pains don't feel like joints and muscles, but I think that the swollen tissues press on nerves or something.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

Does vitamin D deficiency contribute to erectile dysfunction?

I get about zero sunlight all year round and I have darker skin, not brown, but a natural dark tan so I need more sunlight than a person with white skin to manufacture the same amount of vitamin D. This means I'm likely deficient, but I haven't tested to confirm this. I don't have any erectile dysfunction, but I'm still young for that at age 24.
Taking ginger tea, no wheat, fenugreek+green tea/garlic, saw palmetto, niacin, boswellia, huperzine, B complex and nutmeg. See my treatment summary post for more info: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=81.msg3513#msg3513

I have Vitamin D defficiency and POIS. Im not sure if they are related or not. I also have a low white blood cell count.
My doctor has given me a prescription for vitamin D and hopes this will correct the low blood cell count.

The low white blood cell count is interesting. Is it actually outside of the range or is it at the lower end within the range? Do you get sick or get infections often?

Hi, apologies for the late reply. My doctor just said my wb count was lower than it should be, and that hopefully getting my vitamin D levels up will solve the problem. I'm not sure if I have any infections or not as I haven't been tested, but I'll be asking my doc about that soon.
I do have a lot of food allergies - wheat, gluten, eggs, milk, and fish and meat cause problems too. So something odd is going on in my body!

Forgot to mention - I have been tested, but for sexually transmitted infections which I am very unlikely to have. I get my results soon.

There are other things with higher levels in food, like omega 3 in meat.
In fact, only high levels of vitamin D have anti inflammatory effects.
Taurine = Anti-Pois

Sameer, I also have issues with Vitamin D. I cannot take too much, but if I take ~2000 IU, I am ok and don't feel too weak. Maybe if you took a lower dose?
Turmeric and Rosemary 30-45 minutes before orgasm for anti-inflammatory and immune support has helped me a lot. Faster and easier than niacin approach.

Magnesium helps with the uptake of D3, potassium and electrolytes/salts. The magnesium spray in conjunction w/ the pill wks well with malic acid and D3. I have just started experimenting and have some results already.
