Mikhaila Peterson Carnivore/Zero-Carb etc..
« on: September 05, 2018, 11:21:54 AM »
Lots of people have being trying the carnivore diet and alot of people seem to be finding relief from autoimmune conditions using it (see Jordan Peterson/Mikhaila Peterson interviews on Joe Rogan Podcast, was quite interesting).

I know alot of people have had some success with paleo/AIP diets, though not everyone got cured. In this diet you eat 100% meat and water, some people stick to just beef too, there's been some really interesting results/stories from people on this diet (see meat heals, Shawn Baker, Charlene Anderson, Amber Hearn, Jordan/Mikhaila Peterson).

There was also some really interesting results from a group of hungarian doctors whom prescribe this to heal a bunch of different diseases (including things like crohns and type 1 diabetes) see: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/323151200_Therapeutic_protocol_of_Paleomedicina_Hungary

and https://www.paleomedicina.com (you will have to google translate this unless you read hungarian, there are some really interesting case studies there).

I have a feeling that this diet+getting your vitamin D levels to an appropriate level would cure most cases of POIS

Has anyone tried this diet to see if it has an effect on POIS?

If anyone does try it please try for atleast 4 weeks, there's an adaption period for these sorts of diets, you can feel worse for a couple weeks before feeling better.

Dunno really, these diets are very restrictive and tends to lead to serious nutritional imbalances, a meat and water based diet seems to be for me a big red flag, you could seriously put yourself at risk by trying out something like this.

I know what it feels to have POIS, I'm aware that we all are willing to do almost anything to prevent or fix POIS, but changing your diet for these nazi-diets isn't the answer guys. Please take this into consideration before you do something you may be regret.

Only thing I've tried out is gluten free diet and it didn't do anything for my POIS. Maybe if you are celiac or have non celiac sensitivity to gluten, you might find a connection between this and POIS.

This diet is very restrictive, and sounds quacky as xxxx I agree, but there are many people it works for, like even people who didn't get anything from Paleo have had major success with this diet. Also, there have been some people on this diet for up to 40 years and were perfectly healthy. It really does seem that all nutrients required are available eating animal products.

That group of Hungarian Doctors wouldn't administer this diet and claim it works better than more conventional medicinal cures if they thought it would make their patients less healthy.

It seems the majority of people whom have tried this diet have found some benefit, and for some people major benefit, and seems so far from anecdotal evidence that it is perfectly healthy, though there hasn't been much clinical evidence so far.

careful with language, please. Thanks.

I know insults and offensive content should be bammed, but I find banning cuss words to be quite ridiculous. We're adults here, plus what if an Irish comes to this forum? It's medically proven that not cussing is bad for his health!
Seriously though especially with the frustrated state POIS puts us in, I think we should be able to cuss here and there.

I have not yet been able to go near-full carnivore, but it is a goal of mine I am slowly progressing towards.

Over the past few months, it has helped me recover from the chronic effects of POIS significantly, and it may even help POIS attacks themselves. Overall, I have much more energy and clarity of mind, and my POIS recovery time is reduced.

The only significant change I've made in my diet is replacing 1-2 meals per day with nothing but meat/cheese/eggs, etc. but mainly beef. I will still have whatever I feel like for one or two meals per day.

The reasons given for why this way of eating works ranges from the increased bioavailable nutrition of beef, to the protein leverage hypothesis (https://player.vimeo.com/video/273508045). There are great scientific articles on this hypothesis if you google it, but the basic idea is that it's not carbs or fat making us sick per se, but a lack of quality protein leading us to overconsume the other macronutrients to meet our innate protein requirement.

Those that think this diet would lead to nutritional deficiency should know that beef and other ruminant meat is the most nutrient dense food second only to ruminant organs/offal :). The proponents of this way of eating argue that actually the supplanting of meat in the human diet with grains, vegetables and especially junk food has led to chronic undernutrition and the diseases of modern civilization. This is actually the case in 1st world Beriberi (thamine deficiency) and is an emerging theory in some cases of autonomic dysfunction (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2644268/) - the processing of carbs requires more vitamins than is supplied by the diet. What this means is there's a lower requirement for vitamins on a carnivore-heavy diet in addition to the increased bioavailability. This is an important point in the theory, as vitamin C and K are the two vitamins notably absent in "recommended daily amounts" on this diet. Proponents cite the inuit as a modern population that had no complications from a vitamin C intake obtained through an exclusively carnivorous caribou/seal meat diet.

I still think there's a place for vegetables (though the case that they are a modern obsession is compelling), starch and especially fruit. But the important point to drive home is that they are not what we evolved to eat or thrive on, and I personally have done great including a minimum amount of meat in my diet every day. I found out about this diet through http://meatheals.com/ if anybody is interested.

Well acording to diet , ewryibody is diferent(my opinion), due to genetic and microbiota, life style etc...

In last year and a half i tryed two times - hi protein, low carb diet(ali meats, quality fat, buuter, olive oil etc, vegetables.. small dose fruits.
All food was hi quality grass feed beef, farmed egs...

The results was dwastating on my helth both times.
In the end i lose half my weght, an muscule mass, this losing weight and muscule mass an oweral worsens my olredy bad helath is became unstapable on this diet.

Et the and i some how induced hi calory carbs diet with milk to stop losing weight("dying") on this diet.

What is intrestin that white industry breads is going bad on my stomach and digestion, but if i took them out complitly from diet (gluten free diet) this allso bring nothing to my owerall health and pois.

I must say, I'm pretty skeptical about this diet. Like others have said, even if it has some effect on our symptoms, it could lead to a tremendous nutritional imbalance which leaves you worse off.

But hey, maybe there's something to it. If more members tried this diet for at least a month, I'd reckon I might give it a shot.

I was in the same boat as you so I searched for people who have tried this diet for a long period whom have some sort of autoimmune disease, people seem to have alot of success with it, though I couldn't find anyone whom has POIS and does this diet.

I'm naturally quite skeptically but I just want this disease to stop and I've tried many other things and it seems like people can live healthy off of meat only. I thought those people are batpoo but thought I have nothing to lose if I try it, so I did.

I've been on this diet for over 2 months so far, it seems my POIS symptoms have lessened but not gone completely, I recover much much quicker from POIS and the symptoms are not as severe.

Interesting things that have happened so far:
- Energy levels are generally up in POIS or not
- My skin is alot alot healthier, I used to suffer from acne and still get it in my day to day life, that's all gone now
- Mood is up
- I used to get bad dandruff, this is completely gone

I don't think these things are placebo, I'm very "intune" with my body since I usually meditate 1-3 hours a day and have done for 2 years now, so I would like to think I'm pretty good at noticing even slight changes in my body.

My vitamin D levels are also super low (the one vitamin that is in barely any amounts in any food), so I've been experimenting with pretty high dose vitamin D to quickly get my levels up along with cofactors (I'm talking anywhere from 20000+ IU per day), I've only been doing it a week but there has been some very interesting effects:
- I've been getting alot hornier
- I feel more "reactive" to what's going on around me, I can be quite emotionally flat, whereas now I seem to be laughing more etc
- My sleep seems to be more restorative

I think once my vit D is where it needs to be, my symptoms will have gone, because it seems like the symptoms are slowly vanishing.

I'll keep everyone posted on how it turns out.

lots of people seem to have reactions to butter, some fruits, and vegetable oils, literally some people on this diet eat nothing but beef, water, and salt. Not to mention that there is also an adaptation phase that can last up to 2 months, but is usually done with in the first 3-4 weeks that can temporarily decrease your energy and make you feel weaker.

If anyone is interested check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLF29w6YqXs

This doesn't seem to be an isolated case, if you search you can find so many other people with similar experiences.

For those that believe that microbiome diversity leads to a healthy immune system and that POIS is an autoimmune system that can be treated/cured by the gut, see this n=1:

Wanted to give everyone an update.

POIS symptoms are still present but much more manageable, interestingly, POIS doesn't seem to hit me as hard on day 1 but increases on day 2 before tapering off over the coming days.

My skin is clearer and more colourful which is nice, and I no longer suffer from dandruff and acne.

However, something interesting has happened, The skin around my penis gets really really bad acne and is painful (this never used to happen before), I think this is brought on by semen being in contact with the skin but I'm not 100% sure. This leads me to believe this is some sort of allergy. Anyone else had anything like this?

Many people on the carnivore diet report that allergies tend to disappear over months and months of being on the diet, I'm hoping this is an allergy, and that it does eventually disappear.

I also noticed something interesting, people with other autoimmune diseases whom start the carnivore diet, usually report that their symptoms lift after 3-4 days of being on the diet. Then there seems to be another notable drop of symptoms around 3 weeks on the diet. This seems to exactly line up with my experience with POIS, when I orgasm I tend to see improvement after 3-4 days, and then feel normal after around 2-3 weeks. I'm guessing the same bodily process is going on in each which, to me, gives evidence to the autoimmune theory.

Now I'm off to go buy me some fatty chicken legs  :)

After ejaculation my intestine become very sensible to carbs especially white sugar and junk food.
I have powerful diarheas and nothing can stop it even taurine.
I always tought that Pois starts in the intestine. It's like an inflammation, if you feed the fire with sugar : it burns stronger and for a long time.
Taurine = Anti-Pois
