Miracle supplement: Ginger root
« on: July 22, 2017, 03:57:28 PM »
Hey all!

I want to share that I recently discovered something that significantly reduced the irritability symptoms after O. It was recommended on the NakedScientist POIS forum discussion: Ginger root. I found that taking 1100 mg of ginger root oral capsule supplement right around the time of orgasm has almost completely eliminated the irritability feeling that would last all day the following day. I also found myself taking it on a daily basis right before bedtime since it also helps improve my sleep quality. (I know ginger root is often used as a natural anti-inflammatory remedy, so now I'm wondering if my digestive system is inflamed on a daily basis without me realizing it, and ginger root helps reduce the inflammation, interesting...)

I still take NSAIDs with the ginger supplements within the first 24 hours since that helps reduce the muscle ache feeling. I'm still trying to find a good remedy for the brain fog, difficulty recalling words, speech impediment, etc.

I don't post much, mostly lurk, but I'm super grateful for the community here and at the NS forum for sharing their journeys and ideas on how to make this cruel, rare illness relatively manageable.

Summary
What has worked for me:
- Ginger Root
- NSAIDs
- Avoiding carbohydrates and caffeine
- Drinking lots of water

What has not worked well for me:
- Niacin
- Antihistamine (Benadryl, Claratin)

Not sure yet:
- Vitamin B supplements

Best idea so far: Take 15 mg Loratadine quick-dissolve tabs via sublingual administration most effectively at 60-120 min prior to O.

Glad to see another helped by ginger. Have you posted about this on NSF and if so is your username the same there? Just trying to keep track of how many we have so far with good results from ginger.
Taking ginger tea, no wheat, fenugreek+green tea/garlic, saw palmetto, niacin, boswellia, huperzine, B complex and nutmeg. See my treatment summary post for more info: http://poiscenter.com/forums/index.php?topic=81.msg3513#msg3513

I avoid caffeine like the plague. Brain fog for days on end.  I also don't do well on ginger.  I'd get a sense of "anxiety" and hotness followed by shivers and cold sweats.

But I super absorb everything (celiac, leaky gut) so perhaps a smaller dose would be better.
My POIS managed with Diet (@ diet that 100% manages my pois)Believe my POIS stems from inflammation in the gut. O = neuro POIS from inflammation from the gut

supps: microdose zyrtec if needed for food sens. ibuprofen for infl. as needed. Melatonin as needed. Big Pinch Black cumin  seeds once daily
