Why this insurgence of POIS cases?
« on: January 27, 2016, 07:41:46 AM »
No doctor has ever heard of POIS, no proper study exists. There is some research about even the rarest disorders but not much about POIS. This means that POIS is a recent phenomenon which has become more prevalent in the last couple of decades. I would like to brainstorm what could have caused this. There are a couple of theories that I can think of:

1)   Increase in frequency and intensity of orgasm : In this day of visual stimulation in the form of easy accessibility to porn the intensity and frequency of masturbation has become more. And as we know, anything done in excess of what our body can handle is harmful. I believe that my excess ejaculation with porn is a reason for my POIS
2)   Todays diet and sedentary lifestyle : The highly processed food, preservatives and inorganic sources could be a reason our body is not functioning as efficiently as it should. Also the sedentary lifestyle in front of our computer sitting all day long could also be something that our body is not designed for. I feel my POIS seems reduced when I am actively participating in some sports activities, not heavy sports but just light ones

Please input your thoughts if you support one of the above theories or have a new theory.

I believe you hit the spot with those theories.  Porn increased masturbation theory and lifestyle.  Especially diet and introducing gmos to the food supply creating more bothersome proteins in the food that we eat.
My POIS managed with Diet (@ diet that 100% manages my pois)Believe my POIS stems from inflammation in the gut. O = neuro POIS from inflammation from the gut

supps: microdose zyrtec if needed for food sens. ibuprofen for infl. as needed. Melatonin as needed. Big Pinch Black cumin  seeds once daily

I don't know about this. I've had POIS since puberty, no pornography involved. I also had almost entirely home cooked meals growing up with lots of fresh ingredients. I think pois has been around for a while, but with the rise of connectivity and anonymity of the Internet people are only starting to talk about it.

Symptoms last 6-7 days. Onset of muscle weakness after 30 seconds. Symptoms include: brain fog, fatigue, depression, pale skin/dark circles under eyes,  digestive problems, difficulty taking a full breath, irritability. NONE of these are present out of POIS.

I completely agree with the explanation given by "Scary sheep". But of course, I don't know either, I just give my feeling.

Hello everyone
There were different names for POIS in the past.... In China, various names such as (Shen K'uei), Sri Lanka (Prameha) and other parts of South East Asia (Jiryan) and in India ( Dhat syndrome)
