I think everyone suffers mentally from POIS, at least on an emotional level. It is stressful, frustrating and annoying. Next, many people are depressed because of the fatigue and loss of functioning. I believe many are depressed also because the cause of POIS effects the nervous system, and this can lead to mental health problems, which are a special category of nervous system problems.
I have had many mental health troubles, and I have diagnoses of bipolar, schizo-affective disorder and I used to have major, treatment-resistant depression. My doctors are amazed at how strange my nervous system is, so it would probably not surprise them if it were found out later that the cause of my mental health problems was ultimately POIS.
Physical pain and mental pain can feel quite different, but they are both the result of physical things. The best evidence tells us the mind is created by physical processes, and thus you should look at things like emotional or mental pain as something with a physical root. Treat yourself like someone with a chronic physical health condition, and you will feel better. Eait well, exercise, reduce stress in your life and be your own judge. This is the best approach to what you complain of in my opinion.
