Comorbid with Mental/neurological issues
« on: January 01, 2014, 04:10:30 PM »
Does anyone else feel or thin that POIS is connected or co-morbid with other problems. Not trying to generalize, but I noticed a few people on this forum mention that they suffer from ADD/ADHD/General Anxiety/Neurological issues, etc. I also have had some sensitivities with sleep and may have other issues

Yep. I think its a major contributor to my anxiety, overall nervousness, panic, and at worst my depression, bipolar disorder, and schizo-affective disorder (pyschosis).

My hunch is that there is a nervous system disorder, something akin to disautonomic disorders (disorders of the autonomic nervous system) and poor ability for the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems to balance each other out.

I can't sleep without medication, I eventually become psychotic without medication, but I am different than 99% of all patients my doctors have worked with. I am the most sensitive to medicines and have had so many serious drug intolerances that I get the awe of many doctors. They havn't seen anything like me, from top notch psychiatric docs at the best clinics in the US, to former leaders of the National Institutes of Health.

POIS is the missing link.
Turmeric and Rosemary 30-45 minutes before orgasm for anti-inflammatory and immune support has helped me a lot. Faster and easier than niacin approach.

Sameer,

The only thing that helped me with anxiety, depression and sleeping problems is cardio exercises.
In fact, 30 minutes of jogging or running before sleep is the only effective way that i 've found so far to deal with these symptoms.

I suggest you try it for some days, you will see the difference.
It makes you more calm and helps with brain-fog.

Instead of buying meds try buying some good running shoes and go for it 4-5 times per week.
Your general health will change positively.

If you have any questions , i'll help you.

Yes. I have digestion/bowel issues that I am battling right now.  It's not IBS, but I may have something called SIBO. I know of many others who posting about these issues. And I know that user kurtosis has told me that he no longer feels he has POIS after completing a strong treatment to bring his bowel health back to normal.

I don't think that it has anything to do wit POIS but since my POIS started to get worse
i have ''earned'' two allergies.

First, allergic rhinitis.

Second, allergy to a ingredient of wheat (not gluten i think) which cause me some rashes in the face near my nose.
(BTW, any idea what this allergy is or called ?)

The way he described it to me:

Quote
To give a chronology of events
1) Got hepatitis. Was accidentally given a large amount of antibiotics in hospital. (end of March)
2) Took several months to recover. During that time I saw a gastroenterologist who after some testing decided I was anaemic and had SIBO. He felt that my multivitamin consumption had made me appear in the low normal range but as soon as I stopped that when I was in hospital it became clear I had digestive issues impairing nutrient absorption and my recovery.
3) I was put on a diet with very little fermentable foods. Similar to http://www.siboinfo.com/diet.html  (May)
One meal a day became a protein shake with low lactose. I also was told to take a multivitamin with iron so I found one with methylated b vitamins and iron from Thorne.  I'd never done this before as I'd never been diagnosed with low iron and I was always concerned with iron buildup. I assumed that iron was only a requirement for pre-menopausal women ....
4)  I was given a dose of an anti-fungal to clear my yeast infection. I took this with Enzymedica Candidase. I wasn't taking any chances. For me the fungus and POIS are interlinked.  (June)
5) I realised that POIS wasn't very noticeable after the liver problem and the new diet. (June-July). I put back on most of the weight I lost. I was also no longer cold. My cold hands and feet had warmed up.
6) I added the probiotic digest gold formula from enzymedica and POIS disappeared. (July) My last "noticeable POIS" was before I got hepatitis. It's been a weird experience but I'm sticking to a diet low in fermentable foods.

Nightingale, do you mean he doesn't feel any POIS symptoms after orgasm? Or no "general" pois symptoms, no feeling shit all the time, just after POIS?

He's the kind of guy to be very careful with his words. And he hold me he thinks he doesn't have it anymore.

That was months ago. I emailed him last week. Still feels fine. !

That is very important, digestion problem and malabsorption are definitely something common in POISERs ; It is something the researcher should know. Kurtosis is not the kind of guy to claim something is not sure about. If I do a one day fasting when I'm in POIS state, POIS kinda reduce a lot the day after...

This goes VERY well with the Vagal nerve investigation! Should see some great drug free progress here if we're lucky!
WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!
