well given the 1% of population affected is true i dont call that a rare disease.. i mean.. we are almost 7 bil on this planet..that makes 70 million potential pois sufferers..!! you could fill a country with that. a very f...ed up country thou we may cut down that number to half since it mainly affects males. so still a good 45/50 millions goodfellas. thats why the work of our admin is so important on spreading the word. we need those 50?mils knowing about pois.
ps as for the religious part i was kinda joking. it was mostly a consideration related to the fact that pois may hit more people today than in the past due to our modern lifestyle. no computer no videogames no porn no costant sex tickling from media and advertising no sedentary lifestyle no junk food (or more likely , no food at all ) etc...
Hi Poiseidon and Everyone!
I've read this statistic on this forum before, written by a few others -- referring to "1% of the male population having POIS."
This statistic has never been determined, and I'm not sure where this came from on the forum.
There definitely is no established data on the prevalence or incidence of POIS. It is probably more common that we think -- i agree with you entirely on that! But that has nothing to do with the fact that a condition may be rare or common.
In the US, a rare disease is one that has less than 200,000 affected people at any given time. Most rare diseases have a prevalence of
much less than 200,000. Some have less than 50 reported cases, world-wide.
In the European Union, the number varies from country to country -- but it's very close, statistically, to the official definition in the US.
Post-orgasmic illness syndrome is basically an undiagnosed condition right now -- there is currently no way to diagnose it medically. There are no tests, no x-rays, no absolute markers are available yet -- because there was never solid funding for research.
However -- now there is solid funding for beginning true scieintific research. :-)
One day the % of the world's population with POIS will be known. But now, without question, POIS should be considered a rare condition.
