Could POIS be in relation with male infertility?
« on: March 04, 2019, 11:44:26 PM »
Hi,
This question might sound stupid but I was wondering if there is a relation between POIS and male infertility? If Most person suffering from POIS are allergic to their own Semen and allergic reaction means auto-immune response sending antigen in the seminal fluid which can affect sperm normality hypothetically speaking... I don?t know if that makes any sense but could someone enlighten me please.

Thank you

Adam

Adam011, Welcome to the Forum!
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business

Personally, Adam011, I do not believe the allergy theory. See what others say here.

Hi Adam,

I don't believe POIS causes infertility.  If POIS is auto-immune than the trigger happens when ejaculate exits the testies, which is fractions of second before exiting the body. Any T cells wouldn't have opportunity to attack the majority of semen released. Semen left behind could be attacked...

I also know many POIS suffers with children.

I have children. I only became infertile afterwords, in their adulthood (in the last 5-10 years), but I’m certain only due to my TRT treatment. Infertility is a common side effect of TRT.

You can see my infertility warning in my profile below.

I think this is the most logical theory of POIS. However why does it only happen during ejaculation? Could it be that arousal--> production of auto-immunogenic substance in one of the semenal glands-->pre-cum POIS?
It also doesn't explain the brain symptoms? How does this T-cells activation could lead to brain symptoms, while normal flu or any infection doesn't lead to that?
Also can we narrow down substances that are only produced during arousal in the different semenal glands?

In my case I am sure it is not the orgasm but it is the pre-cum. My POIS is way worse after stimulation without ejaculuation. Maybe the orgasm or the semen relief my symptoms? I know others only get POIS after ejaculation. I do not think it is an allergy, but in my case I am thinking about sensitivity. I have low IGm. I read that people who have low IGm also get hay fever (25%) and auto immune issues (75%). I also have an sensitivity for perfume and cigarette smoke. I get POIS-like symptoms when someone smokes near me or when I walk through the perfume corner in a shop.
POIS since 2000. Very bad since 2008. I knew that I have POIS since June 2010. Desensitization since March 2011. I stopped with desens in July 2016. I have 50% less POIS. And only 1 day of POIS. Purified CBD works for me, but I am allergic for CBD.

As I speak for myself, yes it's primarly the (pre)ejaculate that triggers symptoms but I don't rule out additional effects from orgasm. I also got reactions from food. It seems there is interaction between surface tissue (mucosal membrane?) and food/ejaculate. I don't see how male infertility is related to POIS.

I have 2 fantastic adult sons. After my POIS treatment with TRT, my sperm count went to ZERO.

Infertile-is-me now :)
