Advil After Orgasm
« on: September 21, 2016, 06:17:46 PM »
Hello folks,

I have came 3 times in a row every week for a month and I've had almost barely any symptoms.

After I cum, I immediately take 2 Advil (Ibuprofen USP 200mg) and drink LOTS of water. I also make sure not to urinate for at least 30 minutes.

The next morning, I feel okay (not perfect mind you) but I feel fine. And then the next day, I'm great again.

Also, one thing to keep in mind is, a lot of it is mentality. If you have a positive mentality and believe that you are fine, then you will be fine.

Let me know the results!

Hi Suppertime,

Great that you have found some relief. I read that you were using niacin before.  Do you still take niacin, or only ibuprofen / Advil  ?

You say you have maybe some symptoms for one day, then you are ok.  How many days last your POIS attack when not treated ?

It is interesting that you have less symptoms when you do not urinate after ejaculation.  Some members are like this, and others exactly the opposite:  less symptoms if they urinate soon after ejaculation. This kind of opposite results is why I think there are more than one type of POIS.

Suppertime,

Ibuprofen blocks prostaglandins, which could arrest mast cell activation. I wonder if Celebrex (celecoxib) produces the same protective effect on you. Celebrex is more longer acting, which I found necessary for me.

Celebrex does have cardiovascular side-effects, so probably not for everybody.

Ibuprofen (Advil) vs Celecoxib (Celebrex)

Benefit of Celecoxib
* COX2 inbihitor-only --> less GI side effects
* 2-3x longer half-life (cover the entire 12hr after an O)
* ALOX-5 inhibitor (ibuprofen at reportly increase ALOX-5 by 5-20x. the resultant leukotriene pathway activation causes aspirin-sensitive-asthma, particular for people with exercise-induced asthma)
* No inhibition in muscle recovery (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2822477/)
* indirect IDO inhibitor (e.g. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19307990)
* cross brain-blood barrier very well

Benefit of Ibuprofen
* much cheaper
* OTC

Cadiovascular risk from this study (http://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/journal.pmed.1001388)
Naproxen < Celecoxib < Piroxicam < Ibuprofen < Meloxicam < Indomethacin < Diclofenac < Rofecoxib (at doses more than 25 mg)

Generic version: reportedly Teva is good, and Luper does not work very well (my local pharmacy has Teva version. I've never tried Luper's Celecoxib myself)

I have not done any real reading/research but it looks like tylenol( acetaminophen) might  block cox-3 which is found in large amounts in the brain of humans and dogs.

Sounds interesting to me.

Happy you're asking your doctor!
10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business
