Do I have POIS?
« on: November 30, 2013, 05:50:15 PM »
Here's my story:

I am about 200 pounds and 6 feet tall and 21 years old guy. For as long as I can remember, I have felt very weak right after the ejaculation and it takes me days to get back my energy, 4-5 days. In about 7-10 days after last ejaculation, I feel completely normal and energetic. Seconds after ejaculation, weakness takes over my body. I feel like ALL the energy has been drained out of me and I have absolutely no strength left in my body. I become completely lethargic and weak. The only thinkg that I want to do is lie on the bed and keep eating and drinking (juices and milk) to get back my energy. If I ejaculate at night, I mostly miss college the next day because I am too weak to go. Sometimes I feel slight pain in my knees as well for a few hours right after ejaculation. I find it hard for a couple of days to go one floor up on stairs. Slowly slowly, the energy starts to come back and weakness starts to go away in a couple of days after eating good breakfast, lunch and dinner. In about 3 days, I am quite better. In about 5-7 days, I get much better and feel that I have strength. I can start doing little exercises too then.

I have asked friends and all of them say that they don't feel any weakness after ejaculation. They even go out to play soccer after ejaculating but I can't even think about walking 100 meters without getting extremely tired and fatigued till days after ejaculation.

I never had sex. I have experienced ejaculation by masterbating, getting a hand job, rubbing it on a girl's body. The after effects are the same no matter how ejaculation takes place.

I also get nocturnal emmissions. But they don't cause any weakness. I have had nocturnal emmissions many times but no weakness after it.

I have tried to find out a lot what is wrong with me. I asked on lots of health forums and no one seems to know what is wrong with me. I can't go to a doctor for this (don't ask why). So just yesterday I came across the term POIS and I thought maybe this is what's wrong with me. But I'm not sure.

So that was my story and now I would like the experts here to tell me if you think I have POIS or if it's something else.

Thanks!

Prancer

It definitely sounds like pois, jamesbb. Weakness was one of the first things I noticed before getting pois. By the way, do you experience any cognitive problems, or is it just the weakness, and welcome!

I'm sorry but yes you have POIS. There are some options for you, you can go to your family doctor or a urologist (unless you REALLY cannot) and see if he can diagnose what you have -- perhaps it might not be POIS afterall. Honestly though, if its embarrassment, there's nothing to be embarrassed about. That's why there are doctors in the first place, to determine any abnormalities in our bodies.

For me, what I use is Niacin (Solgar). So far, it's helped me get over the POIS for the most part. However, try not to ejaculate. Have you heard Kegel exercises? Focus on that, and try to prevent orgasm. It's the only thing for me to relief the mental tension, and the physical ache that might proceed it.

Thank you everyone for the answers!

Let's just say I cannot go to a doctor currently. My only help is Internet.

No, I don't feel anything else except weakness and sometimes (very rarely) a slight pain in knees. Other than this, I do not have any problem. No cognitive problems, no mental tension or anything else. If I do have weakness, does this mean I will be getting worse with the passage of time? Or will I experience the same weakness (and no other problems) as I grow older?

I find it extremely hard to avoid masterbation, sexual contact with girls and ejaculation. I do try to avoid ejaculation while masterbating or having a sexual contact with someone but it almost always takes over me. I even planned that when I will be having regular sex, I'll take one of those pills that stop you from ejaculating so you can go longer and just have sex and then stop when I'm about to ejaculate.

Is there no treatment for this? Should I try to take Niacin?

Should I take Niacin? What dosage would you people recommend after reading my posts?

I searched online. Niacin is basically vitamin B3. If I get myself tested for vitamin B3, will the test show that I don't have enough of that in my body and I'll know for sure that I have POIS?

No, tests for B3 probably won't show much. B3 in the system can be normal, it's just that we have a particularity that over charges our system as it fights to produce histamines during the whole process of orgasm. If our system is well charged with B3 during the orgasm process, the B3 is there to be used to produce histamines, which leaves the bodies reserves "in order".

If we take niacin "after" the orgasm, it is not there at the crucial time, and heavy histamine production depletes the body's reserves of precursors to dopamine and saratonine which the B3 would otherwise have prevented. After the orgasm, niacin can't do it's job of POIS prevention.

WITHOUT RESEARCH THERE WILL BE NO CURE!
Sessions 5 to 9 days, mostly Flu-like, joints, digestion problems, light cognitive.
Niacin has changed my lif though, now 1 day MAX.
Somewhere in this interaction with Niacin is the answer!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! This is the closest I have been to understanding why I feel weak after orgasm.

I'll go get B3 tablets from the nearby store as soon as I know the following: What mg of B3 should I get? Flush or no-flush ones? How long before the orgasm should I take the tablet? Please base your answers on the detailed information I provided about my condition in the above posts.

Definitely flush type. 100mg tablets (capsules are better because you can open them up and adjust dasage.

Fasting before is VERY important. If you have eaten anything any closer than 4 hours before, the effect is drastically reduces. 6 to 8 hours is better.

This is a downside of niacin.

Start with 100mg on an empty stomach. Wait for the flush. if you have fasted for 8 hours the flush should be solid with 100.
It feels a little like mild sunburn. The first couple of times it can be a little startling. But it doesn't last for long, perhaps 15 to 20 minutes.
It's really  not that bad, and they actually say it's good for you.

Wait until the flush passes. The flush starts about 15 minutes after ingestion, peaks in about 15 min more and subsides in another 15.

You may not have sex.

The procedure is pretty strict. If not followed the results can be signifiacntly reduced.

If niacin works for you, perhaps viagra may work even better. But test with niacin first.

Just a note, niacin doesn't work for everybody. So good luck. You should know within an hour after sex if the niacin is working, and the next day
should definitely be much better.

That sounds like a lot of work. I thought all I had to do was take a tablet a few minutes before. Fasting is an issue for me. I need to take proper food on proper timings otherwise I start to feel weak.

Anyways, is it possible to experience POIS symptoms BEFORE the orgasm? While you are masterbating. I've been noticing this lately that after masterbation (without ejaculation) I feel weakness too. It's not as intense as the weakness I feel after the orgasm but it's still something. So is this possible in POIS?

That's interesting Dave, I always thought that Niacin works because the flush clears the histamine reserves for a couple of hours so that wouldn't be any when the body calls to "fight" semen.

PS I found my pswrd again ;)
PPS hey Dave, just a curiosity are you British? :)
After spending loads on supplements I found out that the only thing that works is abstinence. Full stop. And it's free.
Meditation if done correctly is great too.
Also avoiding computers produce faster recoveries and fewer temptations.

@jamesbb,

As tough as it is, for a long time, I wouldn't have sex without naicin. For me, I was almost POIS free with niacin. Another world.

BTW, I've now replaced niacin with viagra. Works better, and you don't need to fast. (at least for me)

Take one hour before, wait for the regular flushing effects of viagra and go at it.

Follow all of the viagra precautions of course.

I'm going to give Niacin a try. 100 mg is fine, right?

BTW, in my case, I need it for mastebation. No sex because I am single.

So I got this one.

Is this what I need? 1 tablet 30 minutes before the orgasm, right?

250 mg is a lot to start with.

Take at least a half, (125mg) after at least 6 hrs fasting.

You should get a flush in about 15 minutes. Let it peak and then pass to at least 1/2 the peak flush.

Waiting at least 1/2 hour after the peak of the flush is better.

Then go to it.

If you don't fast before hand, you may not get a flush at all, and the protection will be minimal.

I couldn't find 100 mg (or anything below 250mg) ones to all the medical stores I went to. How about I break the tablet in half and then take it? Will that do any good?

I do that and I get the flush. Once you fast before it. I could only find 500MG capsules, it's a powder in the capsules. I divide in five sections and just take the 100mg. I take it only once per week, with or without an O, and it has helped "reduce" my symptoms of POIS. Will be interested on your experience.

For some it seems it can work, others have found fenugreek, and as you will see, other things helpful to them. Worth continuing to read all experiences here and try one thing at a time, to see what is best for your POIS.
