Historic precursor names for POIS?
« on: December 02, 2023, 03:29:31 PM »
Sexual Neurasthenia

Articles can be found dating back to 1880 describing local + general symptoms

https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=nl&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=sexual+neurasthenia&btnG=

Doc thinks it’s an inflammatory disease of sexual apparatus interacting with nervous system:

IS SEXUAL NEURASTHENIA IN THE MALE AS FREQUENT AS IS COMMONLY SUPPOSED?

SEXUAL NEURASTHENIA AND THE PROSTATE

2023 article:
SEXUAL NEURASTHENIA IN MAN

Seminal weakness

When investigating cases it’s sounds more than just weakness to me.

https://scholar.google.com/scholar?start=0&q=seminal+weakness&hl=nl&as_sdt=0,5

Case report from 1842 (POIS?):

Seminal weakness Castration

Did he recover after castration? I don’t have access to the full article.

Someone should do a study collecting these papers and compare them with POIS.

See attachment for full article. He recovered.

Quote:
This operation, however, is not succesful in more than three fourths of the cases, when it is resorted to under the most favorable circumstances, as appears from the cases reported by Mr. Philips, of the St. Marylebone Infirmary.

A bit of history:
Spermatomania—the English response to Lallemand's disease

Lallemand's book describing a massive amount of cases which have been collected during a period of 14 years of what he calls Spermatorrhoea (collected more than 150 in total). How many of these are cases of POIS?
A Practical Treatise on the Causes, Symptoms and Treatment of Spermatorrhoea

My two cents: Waldinger probably didn't discover anything new but drew attention to an already existing phenomena and renamed it to the umbrella term POIS.

I agree Dr Waldinger was not perfect and he didn't succeed to explain the whole phenomenon.
But we should never forget he gave us the credibility we desperately need. After his 2nd study in 2012 Pois became OFFICIAL. We won the mediatic battle ath is moment. Not yet scientific battle.
If was an amazing progress for us.

10 years of significant POIS-reduction, treatment consisting of daily (365 days/year) testosterone patches.

TRT must be checked out carefully with your doctor due to fertility, cardiac and other risks.

40+ years of severe 4-days-POIS, married, raised a family, started/ran a business
