My (sad)story
« on: January 10, 2023, 04:45:27 PM »
I think my POIS was when i masturbated the first time but the symptoms were not severe they werent even noticable. I had tiredness, unfocused attention, a little brain fog. Symptoms always worsened with time. Symptoms become very severe 4 years ago. And also covid worsened symptoms. Now symtpoms occur a little bit even if i just have a sexual thought. My sympotms after masturbating are: sinusitis, rhinitis, pressure in head, pressure on eyes, headache, dry eyes, pain in eyes, tired eyes, now i have worsened visual quality and i guess it might be for a long term now, i also have brain fog, i am nervous, i have anxiety, sound sensivity, i have OCD, i care about other people(social anxiety), i also have anger attacks caused by OCD thoughts about how unlucky i am and that i wasted my best years because of this disease. I was unfunctional 6 or 7 years. i am 20 now. I am also angry at my parents who dont understand me(i started talking with them about the symptoms, i didnt mention the trigger, and they just mock me, pretty much like most of the doctors), i am angry on my friends and relatives who dont have this problem, they are just lucky. This disease also shaped my mindset and now i just dont see any sense in life, i feel like our world is deterministic and there is no free will and everything depends on luck(how atoms inreract with each other. Everything has a reason and everything acts upon set of physical, chemical and mathematical rules). Anyway going on with my symptoms, i also have irratability, i have deppression, i also have light floaters in my eyes, i also have more glare in eyes and less visual contrast, colours are less contrast now, i also have general muscle weakness, i have muscle cramps, i have stomach sounds, something in stomach(idk how to explain just something happening), maybe bloating , i have restless legs, i have cold feet and hands. I always have a very little bit almost unnoticable sore throat, thirst, hunger, i always had tonsil stones in tonsils. In fact now i have several holes in tonsils because of stones. And also i have a gross body odor, also urine has bad smell, i also have balanitis. Symtpoms are worsened by stress, also if i eat too much, especially hard to digest foods, symptoms are worsened very much.

Now about things that help me and suggestion about the root cause.
First of all things that help: drinking much water - helps but not too much, sweating - helps, peeing - helps but not too much, shitting helps pretty much(its not a joke nor i am a troll. I actually feel better when my stomach is empty), fasting - helps very much(but not so much that i can thell you that it is a solution), the more i fast the better i feel, i know the maximum symptoms relief while fasting and doing other things(i mean not without fasting) is 80-90%, vinegar - maybe helps maybe not(sometimes it help a little), exercise - help a little, some stress reduction help but not too much because stress is not the main trigger. Now about very big helpers: garlic helps very much and i think it helps with the root cause, HONEY IS THE BEST HELPER, IT REDUCES MY SYMPTOMS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY BY 90% but the effect lasts 5-10 minutes and i have to eat honey always. Also turmeric helps but not better than garlic or honey, ginger helps but less than turmeric, any antimicrobal helps, coffee helps because i almost always shit after drinking coffee(again it may look like a stupid joke but i have any mood to laugh because i have this syndrome, sorry for maybe strange or NSFW content) and also coffee helps with sinusitis with headaches with anxiety and sound sensivity, and also coffee helps with eyes, i dont know why but coffee really helps with eye pain and dry eye, cromolyn helps with eyes and maybe it helps with other body symptoms but i dont have tablets. I think antifungals helped me very much(flucanazole, itraconazole and nystatin).

Thats why i think i have some type of fungal infection which was caused by weakened immune system(and weak immune system was caused by pretty stressful childhood, very much mold in my room, and i have taken antibiotics many times in my life).

Actually after taking antifungals, eating garlic and honey and some other things which i mentioned i feel 90% better. I mean my symptoms are ok maybe not 90 but 80% less severe. But the thing is that this disease took my best years and health, and these facts are just very depressing for me.

Anyways, thats my story. Thank you for reading it. Any tips, advice, questions and discussions will be appreciated.
Also i am planning to update this post if i will have any changes.
Good luck to everybody.

It sounds like a gut/microbial issue in your case you likely have digestive issues or chronic fungi/bacteria issue which then spreads around causing those symptoms - they all sound like bacterial symptoms, they may induces secondary neurochemical changes too

The fact that everything reducing gut load/lowering bacterias/endotoxins and boosting digestion helps you points to it

You should get a stool microbiome test done and any other possible microbiome test

Mention to doctors how your gut/motility quality correlates to it and your symptoms being similar to bacteria ones

You should try antifungals/antibiotics by doctors

I also regret the years I had lost, but nothing will bring those back. I am almost 40 and discovered the term POIS only a few years ago. Before that I was also mocked by doctors and family members which made me even more depressed and lost for almost two decades. Still other members only managed to find effective treatments in their 40s or 50s, so their life couldn’t have been great either. You shouldn’t give in to regret as it won’t change anything. You simply have to look forward and see what you can still do to make the rest of your life better. Considering healthy people POIS is certainly a bad disease, but I could name a lot of other illnesses that are way worse. It is also true that some members can’t really find any effective treatment, however many others managed to devise treatment protocols that work really well. A few of us even managed to find cures that could (semi)-permanently get rid of POIS. I only wish I had such an opportunity when I was 20. So just don’t give up, you may still have a good life ahead!

You may also want to check out the fenugreek and garlic combo if you haven't already. Several members had great success with that.

The cause is probably a combination of autoimmunity and SASP leading to excessive oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation. Antioxidants, testosterone, NO and norepinephrine boosters, ERbeta, sigma-1, SIRT-1 and dopamine agonists, PDE4, PDE5 inhibitors and CD36 antagonists are effective.

Yes i believe i have some infection bacteria or fungi in my gut. But the thing is that if i don't even eat for many hours i still get some reaction . The reaction is in the head and i guess it's the sinusitis problem. Also, how do i do a stool microbiome test. Such kind of test exists? Do i go to stomach doctor (gastroenterologist) first? This is the only doctor from a many types of I didn't go. I've tried antifungals and they helped. At least i believe it.

I share a lot of exactly the same sentiments that you do, especially the one about things being deterministic. With the brain fog, the fatigue, the slurring of my words, the memory loss, the feeling of withdrawal, I feel like I'm really not in control of myself.

Also, honey was a HUGE help to me as well. I used to do raisins, but raisins are seemingly addictive. And there's something about honey, I don't know what it is, it just hits me better. For a long time, I thought that my blood sugar just dropped after having an orgasm, and that that was causing all my symptoms. Apple juice and honey were huge helps to me. And mixed roasted nuts. But I still don't know for sure. (Plus, I don't like to intake too much sugar, because that causes me to want to have or to straight up have orgasms (e.g., in my sleep)). Before I found out I had POIS, I didn't eat honey. But now I seem to need things with tons of sugar. I would say that I'm on a low carb diet, but I guess juice and honey have a decent amount of carbs, yet I can't eat rice, and sometimes bread just makes me woozy. I wish there was more research done on this...

I must say i have the same thoughts about life because of POIS. What makes me see the behaviour of other People also differently now.

I would say most of the things that help you, helps me as well.

Since i cut off Meat and chick from my diet, im doing really better

What also helps me is forcing breathing for like 5 Minutes after orgams. I noticed i get like some kind of Breathing prohibition after the Orgasm. So i concentrate on breathing regulary.

Some other thing that really helps is Valsava Manouver and doing a little bit of Excercise (going for a little walk) with regular breathing then forcing my eyes to close for 15 Minutes in Bed.

I hope you find Relief some time soon
POIS is my worst enemy

Guys, I'm baffled how the things that happened to you lead to a worldview that I also arrived in the same way.
It seems that the universe has something in common to teach us about itself and about people.
I also came to the conclusion that people don't care about other people's problems and that we are often the ones wasting time being empathetic to their feelings.
Not even our parents are as good as we think they are.
And about free will. I believe there is only one narrow path, it's not as free as we thought it was.
But now, changing the subject!
I want to say that more and more I come to the conclusion that our problems were born of a psychological problem with a mental breakdown and possibly a drop in immunity that allowed the entry of various pathological agents.
Your case is very similar to mine and I cured myself by cutting gluten to zero, that is, for three and a half years;
Doing supplementation of vitamins, minerals and treating the anxiety that I acquired because of not being able to work well, study etc..
I think your case is very similar to mine. AND
I also think that in fact all cases start like this, only that some people are treating causes thinking that they are the problem, but no! The problem continues... This is my case, I treated almost all possible causes (90%), but the 10% is the cause that generates the 90, and I haven't found this one yet, I only have several theories that I want to post here.
However, the more I read things here the more I come to a common ground about the cause but not the cure.
