Author Topic: Does anyone else have this POIS experience? I've noticed a pattern  (Read 1043 times)

I've browsed through this forum for years but am just now making a profile.

Currently 24, I've experienced POIS as long as I can remember. Mostly mental symptoms for me. Extreme fatigue, brain fog, irritability, lack of coordination, hard to process emotions. Sometimes I get a few physical symptoms like itching and chills.

In terms of when/how long I get the symptoms? Same thing every time for me. I get them immediately after O. Then, the next day, the symptoms persist. I'm always so exhausted. I don't have the motivation to do anything, which is the complete opposite of my usual self. My POIS turns me into a zombie.

I'm always relieved, however, the very next day. I wake up, and I can tell immediately I'm back to normal. All symptoms gone. This also works if I take a nap the next day after O-ing. Two sleeps after O, I'm always back.

Does anyone else experience this? It's probably also important to note that I'm Vitamin D deficient. I used to take supplements daily with that, and I definitely did see an improvement, but I've just been bad with taking them every day now.

Hey AnchorMan10, I am also in my early 20s and have been searching on this forum for years. Just now created an account. I have the exact same recovery timeline as you. I always have to get two full nights of sleep in order to feel pretty much back to normal the morning after the second. It is crazy the amount of mental destruction it seems to cause the day after, I never want to step out of the house or anything until after the second sleep.

Hey AnchorMan10, I am also in my early 20s and have been searching on this forum for years. Just now created an account. I have the exact same recovery timeline as you. I always have to get two full nights of sleep in order to feel pretty much back to normal the morning after the second. It is crazy the amount of mental destruction it seems to cause the day after, I never want to step out of the house or anything until after the second sleep.

That's interesting, BetterEveryDay! Glad someone shares the same recovery as I do.

I'm the same exact way when it comes to the mental destruction the next day. Just indescribably numb, yet also painful. I also don't have the motivation to do literally anything. But then after the second sleep, it's like nothing ever happened.

Do you also happen to have a vitamin D deficiency? Just trying to find other possible similarities.

you guys try Niacin strategy listed here.   Personally, i do that along with daily NAC, omega 3, vit d, zinc, Magnesium, collagen, creatine and buy bag of frozen mixed berries from costco which i eat as a desert in evenings.   I would also take L-theanine / ashwagandha + caffine as needed if mentally anxious + tired.   Then my POIS is quite manageable and doesn't' interfere with life just a slight background feeling.   Niacin + caffine boost blood flow,  NAC +omega 3 + berries to soak up the oxidative stress, and then the L-theanine/ashwagandha to keep mental stress under control.   If you don't have flu like POIS it might be worth a try, where its just general neuro /brain symptoms.

I am not quite sure if I am vitamin D deficient. Not to give too much info, but being a college golfer I am in the sunlight for a long amount of time everyday so I don?t think I am lacking in vitamin D. I also eat a pretty healthy diet which I would assume helps me reach most nutritional goals, but who knows. May need to get tested for different deficiencies.

I am not quite sure if I am vitamin D deficient. Not to give too much info, but being a college golfer I am in the sunlight for a long amount of time everyday so I don?t think I am lacking in vitamin D. I say get some blood work if you're not sure. I had absolutely no idea about my deficiency until a couple years ago. Actually just got a check-up blood test today. Like I said, I've been bad with taking supplements recently, so I'm thinking my recent POIS troubles is because of that. I also spend a lot of time outside/have a pretty good diet, so I think my deficiency was something out of my control. Eager to get my results back from today.

Might have to give this a try. Only things I take/in my diet right now out of these is vitamin D, caffeine (I drink about 3 cups of black coffee a day) and I do eat a lot of berries/fruits. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing.  I didn't notice this yet but as to the vitamin D deficiency: know that the majority of people living in cities in tdevelopped contries are concerned by this (according to my dietist at least) as the sun rays causing our bodies to create vitamin D can't get sufficiently through the polution in the air.
(i'm not a medical specialist, this is a statement by a dietist)
