You know for a lot of Pois sufferers the most important symptom is the strange cognitive symptom we have often the 2nd day after ejaculation. The MAIN symptom for me3
We try to find a correct word to call it :
- dream like state
- "i feel like sleeping", " I feel sleepy"
- derealiasion state
- trouble of consciousness or trouble a wake/sleep cycle
- sometimes "jet lag" symptoms
- mental confusion
- torpor
- brain fog
- lack of concentration/ concentration trouble/impossible to concentrate
- mentally exhausted/mentally drained
- lethargic state
- absent minded
- unable to focus
- out of body experience (1 testimony) (depersonnalization?)
- drowsiness
I'm currently looking for links between histamines and Pois because some guys said they have benefits with ginger tea which seems a mast cell stabilizer. And because Truthetheprocess wrote an
excellent post.
Then the histamine theory makes me think that histamines seems linked to another disease called
narcolepsy.
When I worked on Pois in 98/99 I had contact with narcolepsy experts because I thought there are links between the both diseases.
But now, there is a new concept to describe a cognitive state called :
hypnagogic state or
hypnagogia.
From Wiki :
Hypnagogia is the experience of the transitional state
from wakefulness to sleep: the hypnagogic state of
consciousness, during the onset of sleep. Mental
phenomena that occur during this "threshold
consciousness" phase include lucid thought, lucid
dreaming, hallucinations, and sleep paralysis.
Other terms for hypnagogia, in one or both senses, that
have been proposed include "presomnal" or "anthypnic
sensations", "visions of half-sleep", "oneirogogic
images" and "phantasmata", "the borderland of sleep",
"praedormitium", "borderland state", "half-dream state",
"pre-dream condition", "sleep onset dreams",
"dreamlets", and "wakefulness-sleep transition" (WST).
A french laboratory recently launched a new med called Wakix to "wake" narcoleptic sufferers. This med works on the H3 receptor (histamine).
Of course I don't say this med will cure Pois.
I only say the comparison is interesting.
A last point, we always said the "normal male fatigue after ejaculation" is absolutely different of Pois. I'm not so sure of this point now. This is possible that in both cases, histamines is involved but going to an abnormal way in Pois.
