Wheat/Gluten Intolerance

I have completely cut out wheat about 6 months ago and it has improved my symptoms more than any other remedy. When my POIS symptoms first began 10 years ago I noticed some bloating. I now believe this was inflammation of my intestines, which lead to impaired digestion and malabsorption of nutrients. Since I cut out wheat(perhaps gluten) my symptoms improved greatly, but I developed a flatulence problem. Then I cut out most fiber and animal products, which helped decrease the gas. Now I eat mostly potatoes, white rice, oatmeal, beer, and most fruits and veggies.

I am aware that oatmeal and beer may contain small amounts of gluten, but I seem to tolerate them fine. In fact beer seems to improve my digestion.

I've been taking peppermint oil capsules to further aid digestion and decrease the smell of this new flatulence problem. -edit 10/30/16- The capsules also contained ginger oil and fennel oil. I now have reason to believe the ginger oil was helping me while the peppermint oil was hurting me.

I'm curious if anyone else experienced anything similar regarding wheat or gluten.

i think you should check out that AIP diet, what you are eating is very close to it.

Good job ! I will try again zero gluten diet during winter.
I have these gut problems too. Sometime painful.

Yeah the aip diet is basically what I follow.
  But beer doesn't cause you symptoms?  Feel like if you had a gluten problem beer would definitely be a problem like it is in me.
My POIS managed with Diet (@ diet that 100% manages my pois)Believe my POIS stems from inflammation in the gut. O = neuro POIS from inflammation from the gut

supps: microdose zyrtec if needed for food sens. ibuprofen for infl. as needed. Melatonin as needed. Big Pinch Black cumin  seeds once daily

Beer seems to be good for me as long as it has no added sugar. The only thing is if I drink it before I have an ejaculation then sometimes I'll get a horrible pain down there seemingly near my prostate.

The peppermint oil capsules that were helping my digestion actually also had ginger oil and fennel oil in them. Recently I've tried drinking both ginger tea and peppermint tea, separately, and now believe the ginger oil in the capsules was what was really helping me the most.

The ginger tea speeds my digestion, increases energy, and decreases all of my POIS symptoms considerably. I looked into this and apparently there is talk of ginger being a good remedy for rheumatoid arthritis, which is what many of my POIS symptoms are similar to.

The peppermint tea made me exhausted, nauseous, decreased my libido, and decreased my appetite. Overall it had a large undesirable effect for me.

Yes. Wheat = Bread.
Most breads are made with wheat flour.

I've realized that if I do eat wheat I can prevent a lot of the resulting inflammation and pain afterwards if I smoke weed soon after eating it. Weed is suspected of aiding digestion so this makes sense.

Ginger tea works similarly. The difference is that if I drink ginger tea after dinner I won't get to sleep on time whereas smoking weed will help me get to sleep faster.

I completely avoid marijuana if I don't eat correctly.  If I eat wheat than smoke I'd get so paranoid.  I smoke maybe once a year if that.  Usually on occasion where I find there is no alcohol I could drink.

Vincent, I'm curious if you are abstaining from orgasm and you eat some things you know you're not supposed to, are there any immediate symptoms you can recognize? Or is it only if you eat them AND orgasm.

If I eat wheat I will notice the inflammation and other affects even if I don't orgasm. However if I eat wheat and orgasm my POIS symptoms will be multiple times worse.

This is my case:

If I don't have symptoms I can eat anything and I don't have POIS symptoms. Stools are ok, digestion is also ok.

If I am POIS, eating wheat and/or sugar is one of the worst things I can do. Bad digestion and cognitive symptoms will always flare if I am in a POIS episode.
