Ginger Tea is now one of my top anti-POIS remedies
« on: October 30, 2016, 12:32:19 AM »
I've been drinking ginger tea for the past couple months or so and the effect has been surprisingly good. In fact it seems to help me nearly as much as cutting wheat from my diet. I usually drink it after a large meal consisting of a lot of meat because it speeds my digestion a lot. It gives me a large amount of energy and decreases my cognitive, emotional, and physical POIS symptoms considerably.

I make it by grating raw ginger root into a teapot, bring it to boiling, then heat it while boiling for 10 minutes.

I've tried dried ginger powder on meals before, but it didn't seem to have as strong of an effect. I'll have to try it again to make sure though.

My hypothesis is that over the years the inflammation I get from POIS has damaged my digestive tract and that ginger tea is able to remedy that damage in several ways. I think ginger has general anesthetic properties and in addition probably acts as an anti-inflammatory for me. I suspect that other POISers are likely to have some digestion problems and it would make sense that ginger would benefit more of us.

I'd like to know about all of your experiences with ginger tea. Responses about other forms of ginger such as dried ginger powder are also welcome.

I haven't tried ginger in any form, I am going to add to my list to try. I suspect  there is something wrong with my digestion to I see un digested leafy vegetables and fibers a lot in my excrement.
I know this things are suppose to be difficult to digest but I never noticed them in the past.

I've realized ginger keeps me awake longer into the night so now I usually drink it in the morning so I can still get to sleep on time at night.

Ginger has serotonin receptor inhibiting properties. Great for inflammmation and also an anti histamine too. I take it to ease stomach pain in general.

I don't do too well on ginger, mainly because of its stimulating effects.  Same as quercetin, turmeric/curcumin, others.  I guess this is from Mao inhibition?  The one herb I can always take that makes me feel good and calm (tho not every day) is olive leaf extract.  Plus I'm extremely sensitive to food/medication so there's that.
My POIS managed with Diet (@ diet that 100% manages my pois)Believe my POIS stems from inflammation in the gut. O = neuro POIS from inflammation from the gut

Do you know if you have MAO genetic issues? I know I do (23andme test). I have to be careful of Mao inhibitors but my tolerance varies.

No idea.  I know I'm extremely sensitive to anything I put in my body though.  After the age of 16-17 everything seems to effect me... Tho I never took a dietary approach until recently.
